Watch Anthony Green Cover Deftones, Vance Joy

Just a couple of weeks after wrapping up a tour with Circa Survive, Anthony Green headed back out on the road for a couple of days with Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties (Dan Campbell of The Wonder Years) and I Can Make a Mess (Ace Enders of The Early November), and Elder Brother for a short holiday tour.

During the Boston stop of the tour at the Paradise on Dec. 26, Green treated the audience to not one, but two covers that evening.

The first of the two songs was a cover of the Deftones’ “Diamond Eyes” from 2010’s Diamond Eyes. The second song was Vance Joy’s “Riptide” from his debut record, Dream Your Life Away.

The “Riptide” cover seemed to be a theme during the holiday tour for Green because there’s footage of him covering the song again during the tour’s stop at the Starland Ballroom in New Jersey on Dec. 30.

Check out the video of both songs being covered in Boston below.

Green will once again hit the road for his four-day stint fronting Saosin once again. Those upcoming tour dates can be seen below.

Jan 19 – Santa Ana, CA @The Observatory
Jan 23 – Dallas,TX @ Southside Ballroom
Jan 24 – Austin,TX @ Emo’s
Jan 25 – Houston,TX @ House of Blues

Listen to Anthony Green’s Christmas Tracks

image

The holidays are almost on our doorsteps which means that many of our favorite bands have been releasing tracks to celebrate the joyous occasion as a way to give back to those who have supported them. Bayside, Memphis May Fire, and Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams are just some who have released holiday tracks in the last week.

Now, we can add Circa Survive frontman, Anthony Green to that growing list. Green, who we are pretty sure never sleeps, release two tracks for Christmas yesterday; “Better Half’ and “Christmas Waltz.”

Both songs are featured on Green’s two-song EP fittingly titled, Winter Songs which is currently available for purchase on his Bandcamp.

Both songs can be streamed below.

As it has been said before, Green probably doesn’t know what vacation is because his first month of 2015 is already filled with tour dates.

First he’ll be going on a five-day tour with Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties (Dan Campbell of The Wonder Years) and I Can Make a Mess (Ace Enders of The Early November), and Elder Brother beginning, this Friday (Dec. 26).

Then, in mid-January, Green will re-join his former band Saosin for a four-day tour.

See, he never sleeps.

The Saosin reunion that fans only thought would last a couple of day will continue, at least according to the band.

At the beginning of the week, the California-based band gave clues that more tour dates featuring former vocalist Anthony Green would be revealed and yesterday afternoon, they did just that revealed a couple of more tour dates with Green at the microphone.

Earlier this year, Green gave fans of the band the biggest gift, ever, when he reunited with the band he once fronted for Skate and Surf Fest.

The newly announced tour dates feature three date in Texas while one on the West Coast.

Circa Survive announced plans to release a new album last month, and now the band is letting fans listen to Descensus a couple of days before its official release next week.

The full stream of the new tracks can be seen/heard below.

Descensus, marks Circa Survives fifth studio album and also their first official record with new label, Sumerian Records. Circa had revealed they had signed to Sumerian for the new record after the label reissued a deluxe version of the band’s fourth studio album, Violent Waves.

Descensus will be released next Monday (Nov. 24) and pre-orders are still ongoing over at iTunes. If you pre-order the album now, the order will come with an instant download of the record’s lead single and opening track, “Schema.”

Currently, Circa Survive are in the middle of their tour with Title Fight and Pianos Become the Teeth. Full tour dates for that can be seen here. Tonight they will be at the Murray Theater in Murray. The tour will wrap up on Dec. 14 in Philadelphia at Union Transfer; their second night performing at that venue.

Circa Survive Reveal New Album Info

Amazon has a way of ruining surprises for bands who are about to make big announcement about upcoming new music and Circa Survive became another causality of the mega online marketplace’s advanced posting.

Today, Amazon revealed on their website that Circa would be releasing a new album in November through Sumerian Records, the record label that just last month released a deluxe edition CD/DVD of their fourth studio album, Violent Waves.

With the surprise already out there, the band went ahead and confirmed the news by releasing a trailer for the upcoming album on YouTube.

The record, the bands fifth studio album, will be titled Descensus and is set to be released on Nov. 24; just in time for hardcore circa fans to be thankful.

Pre-orders for the record will begin on Oct. 27, the same day a new song will debut. We’re putting our money on the track being the one in the trailer.

Watch the trailer and hear the new song here.

In a recent Reddit AMA interview, Sumerian founder, Ash Avildsen, confirmed the band’s addition to their roster following the decision to re-release the Violent Waves CD/DVD pack though them.

“It couldn’t have been more awesome. I’ve been a huge fan ever since they started and their drummer (Steve Clifford) is a close friend who I used to be in a band with. We toured DIY over 10 years ago before Myspace or Facebook when it was a whole different era in music. The new record is absolutely incredible. I can’t wait until we can show it to the world! Anthony and the guys are absolutely amazing to work with too. True artists full of great ideas and passion.”

Back in August, the band announced they would be heading out on tour at the beginning of November with Title Fight and Pianos Become the Teeth. Full tour dates for that can be seen here.

As for the tour it will begin on November 5 in Boston at the House of Blues and will wrap up on December 14 in Philadelphia at the Union Transfer. For those eager to see Pianos, the band will not be joining the tour until about halfway through.

Tickets for the shows are currently on sale and the band just posted about an $85 VIP package which will include a meet and greet, photo-op, and a three song Circa Survive acoustic set.

Anthony Green Records New Song for Suicide Prevention

image

Suicide is the leading cause of deaths among young people, so even though there are numerous resources out there for people who are contemplating suicide, it never seems like there’s enough when someone close to you takes their own life unexpectedly.

With the recent death of Robin Williams ion which he took his own life, you start to realize that the signs are not always there for people who are contemplating taking such a big step and ending their lives. Even the person who seems to have their life all together might not be as put together as they seem.

In a way, Circa Survive frontman Anthony Green is trying to do his part by selling two new songs, “East Coast Winter” and “I’m So Sorry For Everything I’ve Ever Done” which are available on his bandcamp account, with all proceeds from the sales going directly to the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention.

“I’m excited to share these two new songs with everyone. Music has always been my way of dealing with some of the loneliest and darkest times in my life and these songs helped me ring out some serious stuff that was going on in my head. I share them with you for free in hopes that if you are able you will help support the American association for suicide prevention. 100% of the donations will go to them. I’ve had to deal first hand with the debilitating effects of suicide and depression is something I think effects everyone in one way or another. Please help spread the word about this organization.”

Aside from his contribution to the foundation, it was just announced that Circa Survive will be releasing a CD/DVD deluxe edition of their fourth studio album Violent Waves through Sumerian Records on September 9. Pre-orders are currently up on Sumerian’s merchandise site.

When Skate and Surf Fest announced that two big surprises would be hitting the festival’s weekend-long event, the feeling was excitement. When they unveiled two big reunions were planned, the excitement double. And when they finally announced that one of the reunions would feature Circa Survive frontman Anthony Green returning to Saosin, the feelings went through the roof.

Last night, the newly reunited band took the stage in Philadelphia marking the first time since Green’s departure (give or take ten years) that the full line-up has been on stage together. Thanks to footage that was recorded by someone at the show, it seems that the band treated fans to some oldies, but also two new tracks.

“Translating the Name”:

“Mookie’s Last Christmas”:
