Governors Ball 2016 Lineup Unveiled

The Governors Ball just revealed the complete lineup for the 2016 incarnation of the annual event. On Friday morning (Jan. 8),the New York-based music festival unveiled the complete lineup for the three-day festival. Upon looking at the lineup, it would appear that two Governors Ball veteran performers will be returning to Randall’s Island in June.

The first veteran performer confirmed was Kanye West. The rapper’s last appearance at the festival was three years ago. West’s top-line billing comes hot on the heels of him releasing two new songs, “Real Friends” and “No More Parties” on Friday. The two new tracks will apparently be part of his G.O.O.D Fridays campaign which he recently relaunched.

Much like the rapper, New York’s own The Strokes will also return to the Governors Ball stage this year. The band have reportedly been working on a new album, the follow-up to 2013’s lukewarm-received album, Comedown Machine. The Strokes last played Gov Ball two years.

In a crazy, or maybe a major PR stunt, Beck will also headline the event. As most of us remember from last year’s Grammy’s, West’s encounter with Beck was not exactly a love affair, even if the rapper did apologize for his stunt. We assume all the backlash he received help that apology come materialize. Hopefully, the stunt will remain in 2015, like many other things.

Also slated to make the journey to New York that weekend will be The Killers, who are in the early stages of writing new material; M83, who will return after a two-year performance hiatus; Death Cab for Cutie; CHVRCHES; Big Grams (Big Boi and Phantogram); De La Soul; Against Me!; and many more. The official poster with all the artists can be seen below.

Governors Ball will celebrate its sixth year during the weekend of June 3-5. The three-day festival will once again return to its home of Randall’s Island Park. Three-day general admission and VIP passes are currently available on the festival’s website.

Coachella 2016 Lineup Unveiled

image

It’s official, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival has unveiled its lineup for 2016. After what felt like weeks of rumors, festival organizers finally confirmed that Guns ‘N’ Roses will in fact be one of the headliners for the spring festival. Last week, the rumors of GNR’s role at the upcoming festival hit an all time high when sources confirmed to Billboard that not only were GNR planning a return with a massive stadium tour, but they would be headlining Coachella.

On Monday evening (Jan. 4), Coachella organizers posted the complete lineup for the two weekend-long festival. In addition to GNR’s reunion, LCD Soundsystem has also been confirmed as a headliner. Talk of LCD Soundsystem’s involvement, much like Guns ‘N’ Roses’, began as numerous rumors on the internet before it became official. Now, after a five-year hiatus, the James Murphy-led group will be returning to the stage. But, Guns ‘N’ Roses and LCD Soundsystem aren’t the only ones making a return at the show.

Coachella 2016 will mark the first time in two years that French electo-act M83 will perform live on a stage while pop star Sia’s  appearance at the music festival will mark the first time in five years that she has performed on a live stage in the United States. Other acts slated to perform at Coachella include: Disclosure, CHVRCHES, Hasley, Grimes, Silversun Pickups, The 1975, Rancid, The Front Bottoms, Of Monsters and Men, Purity Ring, Robert DeLong, Zella Day, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, Matt and Kim, Cold War Kids, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, and many more. Check out the official poster below.

Coachella 2016 will once again return to the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, CA. The festival will take place during the course two weekends in April; April 15-17 and April 22-24. Festival passes will go on sale beginning this Wednesday, Jan. 6, at 11 a.m., PST. According to Coachella’s official website, general admission passes for the first weekend are already sold out, following their early bird sale last summer. But there’s good news, weekend two general admission passes are available for $399 plus fees. for more information, head on over to Coachella’s website here.

Paramore Announce Second Annual PARAHOY! Cruise Lineup

All aboard the second annual PARAHOY! cruise.

On Wednesday (Oct. 28), Paramore announced the lineup for the second voyage of their now-beloved cruise. Taking to Facebook, the band posted a video revealing the 2016 lineup. The video features frontwoman Hayley Williams (and her pooch, Alf) pulling out a notebook and writing the names of the acts joining Paramore on the four-day trip.

Heading out on the Caribbean cruise alongside Paramore will be X Ambassadors, LIGHTS, mewithoutYou, Vacationer, New Found Glory, and CHVRCHES. The announcement that CHVRCHES will be joining the trio on the cruise comes a couple of hours after footage of Williams joining the Scottish trio on stage for their song “Bury It” in Nashville surfaced.

The four-day excursion will kick-off in our hometown (and New Found Glory’s, kind of) of Miami on March 5, 2016. From Miami, they will head to Cozumel, Mexico and then return to the port in Miami on March 9, 2016. Sadly, tickets for the cruise have been sold out since May, but there is a silver-lining. The band announced there is currently a wait list going on the PARAHOY! website for those who might want to test their luck a little bit.

The inaugural PARAHOY! cruise took place back in March of 2014. Due to the band’s full touring schedule earlier this year, the group wasn’t able to bring their touring fun to the high seas.

The honor of premiering the record ahead of time was given to NPR which is currently streaming the record. To listen to Every Open Eye which includes songs such as lead single “Leave a Trace,” “Never Ending Circles,” and recently released “Clearest Blue,” head on over to NPR here.

Every Open Eye will officially be released this Friday, Sept. 25, through Glassnote and Virgin Records. In support of the new album, the group will be headlining their first United States tour. Listen to Muse’s Cover of CHVRCHES

image

What happens when Muse decides to cover one of CHVRCHES’, songs? An interesting cover, to say the least.

During their appearance at BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge on Friday (Sept. 11), the band performed a cover of CHVRCHES’ song, “Lies” from their debut album, The Bones of What You Believe. Muse’s cover comes on the heels of Demi Lovato doing a similar thing with Hozier’s “Take Me to Church” and FKA Twigs who performed a cover of Sia’s “Elastic Heart.”

The audio of the “Lies” cover can be heard below.

In addition to the cover, the band also performed some tracks off of their new album Drones as well as hit songs, “Super Massive Black Hole” and “Knights of Cydonia.”

But if that wasn’t big enough news, the trio also confirmed details about their “Drones World Tour.” For anyone living in Europe, it was really good news while those living in North American (like us), it was more of a teaser.

Muse will begin their “Drones World Tour” on April 5 at the 3Arena Dublin in Dublin and wrap up on June 4 at the O2 Arena in Prague. As of now, no other tour dates have been released.

The group also revealed that for the first time ever, the stage set up will feature the band performing “in the round” from the middle of the arena(s) so that the concert-goers can get a full “360 audio/visual sensory experience.”

Really cool. For tickets or more information about the tour, head on over to Muse’s website.

Listen to CHVRCHES’ “Clearest Blue”

After successfully releasing two new songs from their highly anticipated sophomore album, CHVRCHES is back with another song from the upcoming album. The new track is titled “Clearest Blue” and premiered on Thursday on Annie Mac’s BBC 1 Radio Show. Like lead single “Leave a Trace” and “Make Them Gold,” “Clearest Blue” made its official debut back in July during the band’s gig at Ottawa’s RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest.

Listen to the newly released audio for “Clearest Blue” below and try not to get up and dance after the breakdown.

“Clearest Blue” will join previously released songs “Leave a Trace” and “Never Ending Circles” on their upcoming album, Every Open Eye. Every Open Eye is scheduled to be released on Sept. 25 through Glassnote. In support of the album, the band will be hitting the road in the fall. Their North American tour will kick-off when they hit the stage during the weekend of Sept. 25-27 at Boston’s Boston Calling Festival and wrap up during the weekend of Nov. 6-8 during their show at Austin’s Fun Fun Fun Fest.

CHVRCHES “Leave a Trace” with New Music Video

Now that CHVRCHES has unveiled two new songs from their upcoming new album, the trio is giving fans the music video for the lead single, “Leave a Trace.” The music video which predominately features frontwoman Lauren Mayberry, finds the group in a foggy location as the music video plays out.

Mayberry is seen singing among the clouds while Iain Cook and Martin Doherty can also be seen standing among in fogginess of the location; makes it almost feel like some Disney-esque dream.

Check out the music video for “Leave a Trace,” which Mayberry has referred to as “a middle finger mic drop about not being told what to do,” below.

“Leave a Trace” is the lead single off of Every Open Eye. Last week, the Scottish group released the second single; a song titled “Never Ending Circles.” Last month while performing at Ottawa’s RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest, they also premiered two other songs that will be featured on Every Open Eye; “Make Them Gold” and “Clearest Blue.”

The three tracks, which can be seen below, are “Make Them Gold,” “Clearest Blue,” and “Leave a Trace.”

As the uploader warns, it’s not the best audio in the world due to where they were stand (in front of the speakers), but something is better than nothing.
