Watch Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato escape the patriarchy in ‘Fall in Line’

After dropping the audio version of her latest single and then giving a stellar performance at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards, Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato have returned with the official video for “Fall in Line.” On Wednesday (May 23), the powerhouse duo premiered the music video for their female empowerment anthem. The almost five-minute long clip begins with two little girls, presumably meant to be Aguilera and Lovato, playing in a field.

Out of nowhere, two soldiers — dressed in black from head to toe — appear. Each soldier grabs a little girl, separating them from one another. Flash forward, and we see a makeup-less Aguilera laying on a cot in what looks to be some sort of prison. The viewer watches as two soldiers hold onto Aguilera, manhandling her as if she were some kind of doll while she stands in front of a white screen with cameras pointed at her.

As Aguilera begins to sing the song, the viewer watches as the camera angles shift from the white room to a surveillance room where a woman sits watching the medley of television screens. For a brief second, the viewer see a similarly  makeup-less Lovato on one of the many screens.

During the second verse, the viewer finally gets to see Lovato, who like Aguilera, is posed in front of a white screen in front of a slew of cameras. In a not-so-surprising move, given the content of the lyrics, Aguilera and Lovato manage to escape their captors and return to the real world. Watch the full music video for “Fall in Line” above.

“Fall in Line” will join previously released tracks “Twice” and “Accelerate” on Aguilera’s upcoming release. Liberation is due out June 15 through RCA Records.

In support of the 15-track album, the pop star announced last week plans to hit the North American touring circuit in the fall for her first tour in over ten years. The Liberation tour will kick off on Sept. 25 at the Hard Rock Live Arena at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida and conclude a month and a half later on Nov. 13 at the Mahaffey Theatre in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Tickets for the upcoming trek are currently available here. Every tour ticket purchased will include a free copy of Aguilera’s new album. The full list of Liberation tour dates can be found here.

Listen: Christina Aguilera drops Demi Lovato duet

Ever since Christina Aguilera announced the release of her eighth studio album, it seems likes the pop star is ready to have her fans hear all the songs before its official release date. On Wednesday (May 16), the songstress unveiled the lyric video for her duet with Demi Lovato, “Fall in Line.”

The four-minute song features Aguilera and Lovato singing about the every day struggles females around the world go through. Some of the lyrics makes references to being patronized, being told not to have self-confidence, and connecting your self-worth to how the male gaze perceives you. While these every day issues are sung about in the verses, the empowering message comes in during the chorus where Aguilera preaches that women are not meant follow this rhetoric and will not “fall in line.” Listen to “Fall in Line” above.

Aguilera and Lovato will perform “Fall in Line” live during the 2018 Billboard Music Awards this Sunday, May 20.

For Lovato fans, the collaboration did not come as much of surprise. Back in February, the “Cool for the Summer” singer announced that she had worked with an idol of hers on a new song, but could not reveal their identity at the time.

“I did a collaboration with one of my biggest idols. I can’t give away who it is yet, but you’ll find out soon,” Lovato said.

Soon after, Aguilera unveiled the complete track listing for her new album which featured Lovato on track number six.

“We went through a few names of women. I needed a belty singer and she [Lovato] took it to the next level, I almost cried when I frost heard her on the record.”

“Fall in Line” will join previously released tracks “Twice” and “Accelerate” on Aguilera’s upcoming release. Liberation is due out June 15 through RCA Records.

Christina Aguilera drops new song ‘Twice’

It’s almost hard to believe it was just a week ago when Christina Aguilera announced the release of her eighth studio album. With a new album, a massive tour, a previously scheduled live television performance, and a bumping single, what is a pop star to do? Release another new song, apparently.

On Friday (May 11), the “Beautiful” singer debuted “Twice,” her second official single off Liberation. Listen to the brand new, four-minute ballad above.

“Twice” will join Aguilera’s Kanye West-produced first single “Accelerate” on her forthcoming album. Liberation is due out June 15 via her longtime home of RCA Records. Pre-orders for Liberation are currently available on Aguilera’s website.

Titled the Liberation tour, the upcoming excursion will be her first in more than a decade. The tour will find the “Beautiful” singer performing at venues across North America during the months of September, October, and November.

The Liberation tour will kick off on Sept. 25 at the Hard Rock Live Arena at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida and conclude a month and a half later on Nov. 13 at the Mahaffey Theatre in St. Petersburg, Florida. Pharrell Added to ‘The Voice’ for Seventh Season

pharrell

Ever since Cee Lo Green announced that he would not be returning to NBC’s hit singing reality show, the question had become who wold fill his big red chair. Today, the answer was given and fans can expect to go from one form of over-the-top costume to another.

Pharrell Williams has been chosen to take over the turning chair alongside Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton for season seven of the television series.

“Okay, we can OFFICIALLY say it! WE ARE SO  to announce PHARRELL WILLIAMS =  for SEASON 7,” The Voice’s official Twitter posted earlier in the day.

After the news had broken, the super-producer took to his Twitter account to confirm that he would be joining with, “This is going to be so fun.”

Fellow judge Adam Levine also tweeted about the new casting with a simple, “Welcome to the circus dude!”

“It’s been a huge year for Pharrell, with recognition for his contribution in the world of music — the Despicable Me franchise soundtracks, his Oscar-nominated song ‘Happy’ and his Grammy-winning collaboration with Daft Punk on the breakout dance hit ‘Get Lucky.’ His dominance in record sales in 2014, coupled with his incomparable accomplishments in the world of fashion and design, make him an irresistible addition to The Voice family,” NBC boss Paul Telegdy said in a statement.

“He has already made a considerable impact as a mentor, drawing on an impressive track record as both a producer and performer. It is a perfect fit for The Voice as we evolve and reach for new heights with this franchise. It feels like we are welcoming an existing family member home.”

The Voice’s executive producer Mark Burnett added, “I am thrilled to have Pharrell come back to The Voice family, and this time…as a coach. Continuing in The Voice tradition of having the biggest and most current music stars as coaches, Pharrell fits perfectly.”

Let all the “Happy” jokes begin. What do you think about the addition of Pharrell (and probably his Smokey the Bear hat) to the show?

Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera Release “Do What U Want (Remix)”

christina-aguilera-lady-gaga-the-voice-performance-inline

We’re sure that when Lady Gaga was announced to perform on The Voice season finale, nobody guessed that the pop star would be taking the stage with one of the judges to put on one the most stellar performances. The performance was so good, that it even outshone the winner of the season (it was Tessanne for those that haven’t gotten the results yet).

Since the public took the remixed version of the song so well, it was announced that Christina Aguilera and Gaga went into the studio to record an official version of the song. Gaga announced via Twitter that the song would be for sale come the new year.

“Here’s ‘Do What U Want feat. Christina Aguilera’ STUDIO Version. http://smarturl.it/DoWhatUWantX  pink champagne, gold lame, hair, and fearlessness,” Mother Monster wrote on the social media site to get her Little Monsters excited for the new year.

Aguilera tweeted something similar to Gaga’s message; “Happy New Year! Loved performing #DWUW with @LadyGaga so we made a special version just in time for NYE! Xo Xtina http://smarturl.it/DoWhatUWantX.”

Check out the official studio version here:

Up until the performance which took place last month, there had been some rumors that the two divas were in an intense fight. All that went out the window when they took the stage.

“I was really excited because The Voice called and wanted me to perform on the finale and I obviously can’t refuse,” said Gaga about getting the opportunity. “It’s such an amazing show and I said, ‘I’ll do it, but I want to know if Christina will do it with me.”

“This is the first time we’ve ever met and I have to say, when I heard she wanted to collaborate I said, ‘Of course! Lady Gaga!’ I’ve been waiting to meet her. She’s such an innovative artist and a risk taker and as a fellow female, I have so much respect for that.”

“She’s the most down to earth real person that I’ve ever met in this business. Female to female in this industry, it’s really hard to find that kind of a person,” Aguilera added. “I love you girl, and you deserve everything that you’ve earned.”

Lady Gaga Rocks the Stage on ‘The Voice’

While fans of The Voice anxiously awaited who would be crowned the winner of season five (spoiler in case you didn’t see or have not been on the internet, Jamaican singer Tessanne Chin won) many performers took the stage to help make the wait longer and more exciting.

Paramore, Celine Dion with Ne-Yo and OneRepublic all took the stage, but the performers who stole the show was joint effort between Lady Gaga and judge, Christina Aguilera.

At first glance,it looked like Gaga would be taking the stage to perform her current single off ARTPOP, “Do What U Want” with R. Kelly, but the surprise came with Aguilera was the one to appear singing his parts of the song.

Even naysayers had to admit that the two divas sounded incredible, in their matching outfits, putting to rest anymore rumors that there was some kind of feud between them.

Check out the video below and let us know if you agree that they should make their own studio version of the song.

We the Kings Frontman Covers A Great Big World

WeTheKings1

A Great Big World has been making headlines recently since they appeared on The Voice. First, they were chosen to perform at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show alongside Taylor Swift and Fall Out Boy which is scheduled to air on December 10 on CBS and then they got the chance to perform with Christina Aguilera at the American Music Awards two weeks ago.

Of course, once you’ve got a radio hit, it’s only a matter of time before people start covering your song and that’s exactly what’s been happening on Youtube. This cover though, is a little different because We the Kings frontman, Travis Clark not only plays the piano in this cover of “Say Something,” he also plays the guitar on it.

Watch and listen to the singer’s take on the track.

As for A Great Big World, the song has landed them and Christina Aguilera on the Billboard’s Hot 100 top 10, something Aguilera’s solo material hasn’t been able to do recently. and for We the Kings, the band revealed earlier this week, that they had decided to change the name of their independently released new album with only two weeks until it was supposed to be released.

Listen to Christina Aguilera’s ‘We Remain’

christina-aguilera-we-remain-400x400

Another day, another Catching Fire song has been released to fans of the book and film series. This time the song is coming from pop star, Christina Aguilera.

Almost a week after The Voice judge had revealed on Twitter that she had been working on a new song that will be making its debut on the hit franchise’s soundtrack, the song has made its way onto the internet.

Her contribution to the sequel’s soundtrack, is the first new, original track for Aguilera since her 2012 album, Lotus. The singer has also explained via the social media site that she loved the underlying message of the series (not the whole killing each other on some crazy version of Survivor) and that her contribution was a “special new song.”

“We Remain” plays up Aguilera’s talent of being able to meld both ballads with mid-tempo poppy-goodness and sounds great. The lyrics also could easily describe Katniss Everdeen and her make-shift group of fighters with lines such as “Burn me with fire, Drown me with rain” and “I’m gonna wake up, screaming your name. Yes I’m a sinner, yes I’m a saint. Whatever happens here. Whatever happens here… We Remain.”

The full song can be heard below.

Just yesterday, Sia’s contribution, “Elastic Heart” was released through Zane Lowe’s radio show on BBC Radio 1, while last Friday, The Lumineers’ song, “Gale Song” debuted during a show they were performing at for Seattle radio station, 107.7: The End.
