After dropping the audio version of her latest single and then giving a stellar performance at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards, Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato have returned with the official video for “Fall in Line.” On Wednesday (May 23), the powerhouse duo premiered the music video for their female empowerment anthem. The almost five-minute long clip begins with two little girls, presumably meant to be Aguilera and Lovato, playing in a field.
Out of nowhere, two soldiers — dressed in black from head to toe — appear. Each soldier grabs a little girl, separating them from one another. Flash forward, and we see a makeup-less Aguilera laying on a cot in what looks to be some sort of prison. The viewer watches as two soldiers hold onto Aguilera, manhandling her as if she were some kind of doll while she stands in front of a white screen with cameras pointed at her.
As Aguilera begins to sing the song, the viewer watches as the camera angles shift from the white room to a surveillance room where a woman sits watching the medley of television screens. For a brief second, the viewer see a similarly makeup-less Lovato on one of the many screens.
During the second verse, the viewer finally gets to see Lovato, who like Aguilera, is posed in front of a white screen in front of a slew of cameras. In a not-so-surprising move, given the content of the lyrics, Aguilera and Lovato manage to escape their captors and return to the real world. Watch the full music video for “Fall in Line” above.
“Fall in Line” will join previously released tracks “Twice” and “Accelerate” on Aguilera’s upcoming release. Liberation is due out June 15 through RCA Records.
In support of the 15-track album, the pop star announced last week plans to hit the North American touring circuit in the fall for her first tour in over ten years. The Liberation tour will kick off on Sept. 25 at the Hard Rock Live Arena at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida and conclude a month and a half later on Nov. 13 at the Mahaffey Theatre in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Tickets for the upcoming trek are currently available here. Every tour ticket purchased will include a free copy of Aguilera’s new album. The full list of Liberation tour dates can be found here.
