Ghost, System of a Down, the Prodigy lead 2019 Chicago Open Air

Ghost, System of a Down, and the Prodigy are just some of the bands who will make their way to Chicago in the springtime for the 2019 incarnation of Chicago Open Air. On Tuesday (Dec. 11), U.S. music festival producer Danny Wimmer Presents unleashed the full lineup for next year’s event following its one-year hiatus.

In addition to the aforementioned bands, Tool, Meshuggah, Beartooth, Code Orange, Knocked Loose, Vein, Gojira, In this Moment, Fever 333, The Black Dahlia Murder, and Alien Weaponry will round out the roster for next year’s event. Unlike the other Danny Wimmer Presents music festivals, which boost a large array of performers throughout the day, Chicago Open Air will only have seven bands performing a day.

“I can’t even begin to express how excited we are to be playing Chicago Open Air Presents. We had such a blast last time!” In this Moment frontwoman Maria Brink said in a press statement.

“Tool, the Prodigy, and System of a Down. That’s insane and such a powerful lineup. We feel blessed to be a part of it all. These are some of our all-time favorite bands, I can’t wait to see you all there with In this Moment.”

In addition to the rocking lineup, attendees will also be able to indulge in a variety of local and regional craft beers and delicious Chicago-centric cuisine during the weekend-long festivities.

Chicago Open Air will take over the SeatGeek Stadium (formerly Toyota Park) in Bridgeview, Illinois during the weekend of May 18 – 19. Doors for the two-day event will open at 2 p.m. each day.

Tickets for the music festival will go on sale beginning this Friday, Dec. 14, at noon CT on Chicago Open Air’s website.

The festival will offer several package for attendees to choose from including several single-day and two-day packages.

Chicago Open Air 2017 lineup unleashed

The lineup for the second annual Chicago Open Air has been unveiled and it looks like rockers and metal heads alike will be stoked. On Tuesday (Jan. 17), festival organizers unveiled the lengthy list of  artists set to hit Chicago in mid-July. KISS, Rob Zombie, Megadeth, Anthrax, Korn, Godsmack, Seether, Ozzy Osbourne, Slayer, Stone Sour, and Lamb of God are some of the over 40 performers scheduled to take over Toyota Park.

“Walking through the site last year, I saw people from all over the world. Different ages, different races – people celebrating rock culture. When curating the 2017 version of Chicago Open Air, we wanted to find that balance for everyone who attends the festival. From iconic artists like Ozzy, KISS, Korn and Slayer to Rob Zombie, Godsmack and Stone Sour to Amon Amarth, Meshuggah and Behemoth. If you are a rock fan, this is a must see experience,” said Danny Wimmer, founder of Danny Wimmer Presents.

In addition to the rocking music, Chicago Open Air will also feature craft beer, the Gourmet Man Food festival, as well as several parties and experiences.

Chicago Open Air will return to this home of Toyota Park in Bridgeview, IL, just outside Chicago, during the weekend of July 14-16. Tickets for the music festival will go on sale beginning this Friday, Jan. 20. At that time, there will be four different options to choose from. The three-day general admission field pass that will cost you around $209.50. the three-day general admission bowl pass will cost around $119.50. For those not sure if they want to go one day or all three days, single day passes will cost $50. If you want to experience the music festival and not to worried about prices, there will be a three-day VIP pass that starts at $425.00. Korn debut new song at Chicago Open Air

Several days after announcing a special guest star for their brand new album, Korn has unveiled a new song. During the weekend, the California-based band performed at Chicago’s inaugural Chicago Open Air. During their set, the band performed a never-before-heard track which will reportedly be featured on the their upcoming new album. The new track is reportedly titled “Rotting in Vain” and its live debut can be seen/heard below.

While the live version of the song is the closest we can get to the audio, the band had also confirmed that the official tune will be released on Friday, July 22. Taking to Instagram, bassist Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu posted an image of his son holding a sign proclaiming the release of “Rotting in Vain.” check out the social media image below.

Currently, there is no project release date for the new album nor a title for it. The only things that are known are: it sonically, it will be reminiscent to 1994’s self-titled, Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor is set to guest on one of the tracks, and that the band is working like a “well-oiled machine” since the return of Brian “Head” Welch.

This yet-to-be-titled record will be the follow-up to 2013’s The Paradigm Shift.

Chicago Open Air Festival Announces Inaugural Lineup

Last week, it was announced that Rammstein’s only United States show would be happening at the inaugural Chicago Open Air music festival this July. Now, festival organizers have unveiled the complete list of other artists that will be joining the Germany-based band at the festival’s first ever incarnation. On Tuesday (Feb. 16), over 40 bands were added to the lineup including acts like Slipknot, Korn, Marilyn Manson, Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, Of Mice & Men, Bullet for My Valentine, and Chicago’s own Disturbed.

“It is long overdue that one of the greatest rock cities in the world has a festival of its own,” write Disturbed in a press release. “We are honored and excited to be one of the headliners at the inaugural Open Air festival in our hometown of Chicago.”

In addition to those who will be performing at the weekend-long event, organizers also unveiled the daily lineups for each of the three days. As a precaution, do not assume that the order of the daily lineup is when each band is actually scheduled to perform. According to the festival’s website, the official performance times will be announced two weeks before the festival kicks off. Until then, check out the daily lineups below and begin to plan accordingly.

The inaugural Chicago Open Air festival will take place during the weekend of July 15-17 at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, IL. General admission tickets and VIP passes are currently available for purchase on the festival’s website. In addition to a lot of great bands, the festival will also host a craft beer village and gourmet man food. The beer village will offer national and regional craft beers and artist inspired beverages while the gourmet man food will include selections from some of Chicago’s best eats.
