Bruce Springsteen and CBS Team Up for Album Debut

UPDATE: Stream the full album over at CBS.com here.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Amazon might be to blame for leaking Bruce Springsteen’s new album two weeks early, but that doesn’t mean that the Boss is going to let that stand in the way of releasing his songs through a television network.

Today, it was announced that Springsteen’s new album will be available for download through CBS’ website CBS.com, while the network will “highlight the disc’s availability on its website during a sneak preview after the January 5th episode of The Good Wife.”

The album, High Hopes, will then be available at CBS.com/Springsteen after the broadcast on Sunday, January 5 through Monday, January 13 at 7:00 PM EST.

In support of the advance streaming through the network, three of Springsteen’s tracks will be featured on the January 12 episode of The Good Wife.

This is the first time that such a promotional stunt as been attempted. A somewhat attempt similar to this was made last year by CBS for an episode of their hit, long-running show, CSI: Crime Scene Investigators. The episode featured none of the characters speaking, much like a silent film, but rather the music of Green Day taking the narrative of the episode.

As for High Hopes, it is one of the most anticipated albums of 2014 since its initial announcement. While the album won’t feature any “brand new material,” it does feature covers, rarities, and reworking of past songs. The album is set to be released on January 14 and will feature members of the E Street Band as well as guitarist Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine.

ACM Awards Live Stream

For fans of country music, tonight will be another night full of rocking country songs and awards for the best of the best in that genre of music.

The Voice judge (and sometimes country singer, I kid) Blake Shelton and first time co-host, Luke Bryan will be taking the reigns as hosts of the evening. Performers will include, Hunter Hayes with Stevie Wonder, Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift with Keith Urban, George Strait, Garth Brooks and even a collaboration between John Mayer and Brad Paisley.

While the laundry list of performers is enough for a country fan to tune in, the list of presenters aren’t that far off either. Presenters include, Gary Allan, Faith Hill, Shania Twain, Trisha Yearwood, Chris Young, Eli Young Band and many more.

For the full list of performers and presenters, tune in tonight at 8 p.m. on CBS for the live airing of the show on the east coast and a tape delay for those on the west coast.

And for those that can’t see it at all, click here at 8 for the live stream of the show.

CBS’ Warning Against Inappropriate Attire

lilkim

Can we label this under the “huh” files? Yesterday, it was reported that CBS had sent out a massive email to all artists attending this weekend’s Grammy Awards to cover up. They want there to be no possibility of a wardrobe malfunction happening before, during or after the televising of the annual music awards.

Here’s the entire email straight from CBS Standards and Practices team:

Date: February 5, 2013, 10:39:56 PM EST
Subject: 55th GRAMMYS: Standard And Practice Wardrobe Advisory
***GRAMMYS 2013***-kindly confirm receipt of s&p standards-

CBS Program Practices advises that all talent appearing on camera please adhere to Network policy concerning wardrobe.

Please be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered. Thong type costumes are problematic. Please avoid exposing bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack. Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic. Please avoid sheer see-through clothing that could  possibly expose female breast nipples. Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible “puffy” bare skin exposure. Please avoid commercial identification of actual brand name products on T-shirts. Foreign language on wardrobe will need to be cleared. OBSCENITY OR PARTIALLY SEEN OBSCENITY ON WARDROBE IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR BROADCAST. This as well, pertains to audience members that appear on camera. Finally, The Network requests that any organized cause visibly spelled out on talent’s wardrobe be avoided. This would include lapel pins or any other form of accessory.

Some reason this feels like a publicity stunt to get more viewers to tune into the Red Carpet/ award show. What do you all think, publicity or just good “looking out”?
