Brandon Flowers Cancels Remaining Tour Dates

Those waiting eagerly for Brandon Flowers to descend on their town as part of his solo summer tour were given saddening news yesterday evening (Aug. 12); the remaining days of the tour had been cancelled.

All six remaining tour stops including tonight’s show at The Fillmore in Charlotte, NC as well as shows in Raleigh; Norfolk, VA; Atlanta; Orlando; and our own hometown of Miami have been cancelled. At the time of the announcement, there was no further information given as to why the cancellation had occurred. At the time of this being written, there still was no comment on the matter.

For those who had purchased tickets for those shows, refunds are currently available at the point of purchase. As if the sting of the cancellation wasn’t bad enough, according to The Killers News blog (a fan site dedicated to all things The Killers), none of the cancelled show will be rescheduled.

After the last date of the summer tour, Flowers was supposed to take a couple off weeks off before beginning the tour cycle again on Sept. 2 at the Fox Theatre in Oakland, CA. There is currently no word as to whether that show, and the ones that follow, will go on as schedule or if they will meet the same fate as the summer tour dates.

The complete post about the cancellation from The Killers News blog can be read here.

The now cancelled tour was in support of Flowers’ sophomore solo album, The Desired Effect which was released back in May.

Kings of Leon to Postpone Several Tour Dates Due to Injury

Over the weekend, Kings of Leon suffered a mishap that resulted in drummer Nathan Followill breaking several ribs and the band having to postpone several of their upcoming tour dates.

While en route to their hotel following their show in Boston, when a pedestrian jumped in front of their tour bus, causing the over-sized vehicle to stop short resulting in Followill being injured. At the time, he had said he was just “banged up,” but it turned out he had a broken rib.

At the time, the band had just said that the would be postponing their Saratoga Spring, NY show, this past Sunday (August 10) and any show until “further notice”

Today, KOL have confirmed that they have nixed all tour dates for the next two weeks to allow Followill to heal, per doctor’s orders. At this rate, the band’s next show will take place on august 28 at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ.

Of course, it sounds like Followill is getting some kind of cabin fever already and is eager to return to his drum kit. “I’m, counting down the days until I can get back in the saddle and continue what has been out best American tour so far.”

But, the band will appear on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon where resident band leader Questlove will take over the drum kit for the group during their song “Family Tree.”

The band’s current tour, the Mechanical Bull tour is in support of their 2013 album by the same name. This tour marked the return of the band after their scrapped a full tour due to internal band issues among the members of the group.
