HAIM and Calvin Harris “Pray to God” in New Song

calvinharris

Calvin Harris might have made headlines recently for breaking up with his former flame, pop star Rita Ora and the issues surrounding a certain song which he refused to let her perform live, but we’re thinking the DJ has moved on (we know Ora has).

Harris revealed a few months back that he would be releasing a new album full of new collaborations with artists. To date, the DJ has released several tracks from his fourth studio album since he announced the record.

Songs such as  “Under Control,” “Summer,” “Blame,” “Open Wide” featuring Big Sean, and “Outside” featuring Ellie Goudling have already been released and now we can add another song to the list.

Today, the Scottish producer has released another new song from Motion. The song is titled “Pray to God’ and features vocals from sister group, HAIM, but don’t let the title fool you, because the song is catchy and plays up both HAIM and Harris’ strengths.

Check out the song below.

Motion is slated to be released on Nov. 4, but for those who are too excited to wait for its official released next week, they can head on over to iTunes Radio where all new 15 tracks are currently being streamed.

Calvin Harris Takes on The Killers

killers

The Killers just finished releasing the music video for their new song, “Shot at the Night” last week, after revealing a lot of new information along the way. The news included two new songs and a greatest hits compilation titled, Direct Hits!,  in celebration of the tenth anniversary of the band.

“Shot at the Night” had been produced by electro-group, M83’s frontman Anthony Gonzalez; the second collaboration that the twosome had done. But for The Killers, having one electro-dude on the album was not enough. When the news surfaced about the compilation, the band released a track list for fans to look over and on it, there was a familiar name remixing one of their hit songs.

Calvin Harris had been tapped to remix the band’s hit song, “When You Were Young” from their second album, Sam’s Town. Harris has recently made a name for himself on top 20 radio stations thanks in part to his song, “I Need Your Love” featuring British singer, Ellie Goulding.

For now, you can listen to the mixed track here.

Direct Hits is set to be released on November 12, while “Shot at the Night” will officially be released as a single on November 4. Continue reading

Forbes Highest Paid DJ List

ch

Who are the highest paid DJs of 2013 you migth ask? Well, Forbes has done the leg work and have come up with a list of who are raking in the dough on their turntables or Mac computers.

The man behind one of Summer’s biggest hits, “I Need Your Love,” Calvin Harris has landed on the tip spot of the list. Part of his fortune was made courtesy of his two-year deal with Las Vegas’ club, Hakkasan while the other was thanks to songwriting and producing credits. In total, Harris has made a total of $46 million so far this year.

“The rise of dance music has been astronomical in the last three years,” he said while speaking with the publication about his success. “I happened to be in the right place at the right time.”

To this day, the 29-year-old DJ has released three albums of his own and has worked with the likes of  Rihanna, Ne-Yo and Florence Welch and several more. Harris dethroned last year’s number one, Tiesto, who’s intake actually rose from last year to this year; last year he made $22 million and this year he made $32 million.

Also making it on the list are the typical DJs that have been on the radio and in the public for sometime such as David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia and Deadmau5. All of them reportedly made over $20 million thanks to gigs all over the world.

The biggest shocker on the list goes to Pauly D which everyone knows as that guy from that annoying show on MTV. Forbes calculates that the former MTV reality star made about $13 million this year by touring with the Backstreet Boys and Jesse McCartney across the country this summer.

While the list includes 12 names, there are actually 13 on the list. Pauly D tied Diplo for last place.
