For the last week, Cover Your Tracks has been teasing the release of their brand new music video for lead single, “Cages.” On Monday (Oct. 24), the Atlanta-based band unleashed the music video which shows the viewers what it’s like to be at one of the group’s shows. The live music video was recorded during the group’s stint on Ice Nine Kills’ recently wrapped ‘Hell in the Hallways’ fall tour.
While the song is a very catchy one, it turns out that there is a lot more to it, lyric-wise. Frontman Paul Rose revealed that the song is about the negative impact of technology on human relationships. “We could be really damaging the way we interact and not even know it,” begins Rose. “I understand how helpful it is and I’m a hundred percent for technological progress—but just like everything, there must be a balance: no good without bad, no good without evil.” Guess the technology we’ve all grown to know and “love” are in fact those cages.

“Cages” is featured on Cover Your Track’s debut album, Fever Dream. Fever Dream was released back in September. Like with any band who’s released a brand new record, Cover Your Track is set to hit the road once again, except this time with Failure/Anthem, Through Fire, and Letters from the Fire. The new trek kicks off tonight at the Studio @ Webster Hall and will wrap up on Nov. 9 at Davey’s Uptown in Kansas City. The complete list of tour dates can be seen below.
