Bring Me the Horizon Release Short Film for “True Friends”

Bring Me the Horizon have returned with the music video for one of their latest tracks, “True Friends.” The music video for the song is more like a short-film, running a little over seven and a half minutes long and a style that looks like a short independent film.

The music video begins with a girl holding herself underwater in a bathtub. The image soon changes to her fighting with an older man who we can safely assume is her father. The camera pans across the wall showing images of the father dressed in a police uniform which plays a role later on in the video. This should be the first indication that this is not going to be a “rainbows and candy” sort of music video.

The detective is soon called to a farm because several horses belonging to the farmer have been killed; their heads removed from their body while what appears to be a cow is suspended in mid-air by ropes. With some writing on walls in blood-red paint, sketchy Polaroids posted in the family’s garage, and a sketchy dude in a bar (BMTH’s “Follow You” is played in the background) accusing the detective of abusing his daughter, we finally find out just what was going on behind those closed doors.

Oh yeah, and the band is also featured in the music video, though it seems to be minimal compared to other videos. Check out the music video for “True Friends” below.

“True Friends” is featured on Bring Me the Horizon’s recently released album, That’s the Spirit.

Bring Me the Horizon Unleash an “Avalanche”

With just a few days left until the release of their fifth studio album, Bring Me the Horizon has released yet another new song from That’s the Spirit. Since the initial announcement confirming the release of the new LP, the United Kingdom group has released several songs from it including lead single “Happy Song,” “Throne,” “True Friends,” and “Drown,” a reworked version of an old song.

Now, a couple of days after debuting the new version of “Drown,” the five-piece have premiered another new song; a track titled “Avalanche.”

“Avalanche” made its official debut on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 Show Tuesday night (Sept. 8). Leading up to its premiere, the band had teased fans about the new song, urging them to pre-order the new album in order to unlock the audio on iTunes. Thankfully, they felt like being nice and decided to post up the track on iTunes at midnight. For now, “Avalanche” can be streamed over at BBC Radio 1’s website here.

That’s the Spirit is the follow-up to Bring Me the Horizon’s hit 2013 album, Sempiternal. The record was produced by frontman Oli Sykes and keyboardist Jordan Fish and is scheduled to be released this Friday, Sept. 11 through Columbia Records. In support of the album the band will be hitting the road alongside Issues for a North American tour this fall. Tour dates can be seen here.

Bring Me the Horizon Stream New Version of “Drown”

For anyone who had been keeping a close eye on the track list for Bring Me the Horizon’s new album, That’s the Spirit, among all the new tracks which includes singles “Happy Song,” “Throne,” and the recently released “True Friends,” there was a song that was previously released last year. As it turns out the track, “Drown,” is in fact a reworked version of that song that was released last October.

In anticipation of the new album that is slated to be released at the end of the week (Sept. 11, to exact) the band has now released the newly revised track though it only seems that the song has been tweaked just a bit from the original version. Listen to the new version of “Drown” below as well as some commentary from BMTH’s frontman Oli Sykes.

That’s the Spirit is the follow-up to Bring Me Horizon’s previously released record, 2013’s Sempiternal. In support of the new album, the band will be heading out on tour alongside Issues this fall. To see the complete list of upcoming tour dates, click here.

Bring Me the Horizon Release “True Friends”

bmth

With a few days until they are slated to hit the stage at this year’s Reading and Leeds Festival in the United Kingdom, Bring Me the Horizon has released yet another new song from their impending new record.

The new song is titled “True Friends” and unlike many of their previous tracks, this one finds frontman Oli Sykes relying on his pretty impressive clean vocals as he sings about how “true friends stab you in the front.”

Listen to “True Friends” below.

“True Friends” will join previously released “Happy Song” and “Throne” on Bring Me the Horizon’s fifth studio album, That’s the Spirit. That’s the Spirit is set to be released on Sept. 11 through Columbia Records, domestically, and through RCA, globally. This record marks the first time BMTH will be releasing new music through a new record label. Earlier this summer, they announced that had left Epitaph Records for Columbia.

In support of the new album, BMTH will be hitting the road with Issues beginning on Oct. 1 at the Hard Rock in Orlando. The complete list of upcoming tour dates can be seen here.

New album? Check.

Upcoming tour dates? Check.

New single? Definite check.

Keeping their promise to fans from a couple of days ago, Bring Me the Horizon has released the music video for their new single, “Throne.” Like BMTH had told fans about their new sound, “Throne” showcases the group leaving the comfort of their metalcore roots for something a little more poppy. Not that we’re complaining about it, the song just confirms what frontman Oli Sykes had said about the new record; the screamer now knows how to sing.

Check out the music video below.

In addition to the music video, which was directed by Sykes, the band has also revealed the track list for That’s the Spirit. The track list, surprisingly, features “Drown,” one of the two songs they released last year.

The complete track list can be seen below.

THAT’S THE SPIRIT TRACK LIST:

1. “Doomed”
2. “Happy Song”
3. “Throne”
4. “True Friends”
5. “Follow You”
6. “What You Need”
7. “Avalanche”
8. “Run”
9. “Drown”
10. “Blasphemy”
11. “Oh No”

That’s the Spirit is set to be released on Sept. 11 through Columbia Records. The British band will then hit the road beginning on Oct. 1 at the House of Blues in Orlando with special guest Issues. Tour dates can be seen here.

Bring Me the Horizon’s new album, That’s the Spirit is set to be released on Sept. 11 through Columbia Records. Their new single “Throne” will make its debut tomorrow on BBC Radio 1, so keep an ear out for that.

‘That’s the Spirit,’ Bring Me the Horizon

A couple of weeks after unveiling their first new song in almost a year, Bring Me the Horizon have now revealed to fans the name of their upcoming new album. As it turns out, all those tweets from band members reading “That’s the Spirit” was not just a reference to their lead single “Happy,” rather it was them informing fans that That’s the Spirit is the name of their fifth studio album.

In addition to the album title, the band have also revealed that the new record will be released on Sept. 11 through Columbia Records. Last week, the band made headlines once again when it was revealed they had left their former record label (for US releases, at least), Epitaph Records, for major label, Columbia.

While the album title and release date are a good start, the band finished giving their fan base a heart attack when they revealed that the second single from the record, “Throne” will make its debut on Thursday, July 23, at 7:20 p.m. on BBC Radio 1. The album art for “Throne” can be seen below.

In a recent interview with NME, frontman Oli Sykes and newcomer Jordan Fish talked about the new record and how it was heavily influenced by where they recorded the new 12-track record; the Greek island of Santorini (the location where Mamma Mia! takes place).

Sykes also explained to the publication how the album is loosely a concept album revolving around the darker side of life.

“It’s a celebration of depression,” explained Sykes.

“A way of making light of it. ‘That’s The Spirit’ – it’s quite a depressing phrase when you think about it – the sort of thing you only ever use when you know there’s no positive answer to the situation.”

That’s the Spirit is the follow-up to 2013’s Sempiternal.
