Brand New Frontman Forgets Lyrics, Gives Hilarious Response

It happens.

Singers sometimes forget the lyrics to their own songs and sometimes need the help from their fans to remember a line or at least finish the song.

When you have a discography that span over a decade, it’s not surprising that a “brain fart” will happen. It’s normal.

But, Brand New frontman Jesse Lacey is not normal.

During the band’s show in Albuquerque earlier this week (April 21), Lacey and the rest of the band had started their song, “Millstone” from 2006’s The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me. Things began okay with Lacey singing the lyrics until he couldn’t remember them. He began to mumble into the microphone and then all together stepped away.

Instead of letting the audience pick it up for him, he stopped the song, telling the crowd “I can’t remember, give me a second.”

He even asked someone in the crowd, “do you have the lyrics on your phone there, bro?”

Don’t worry, the band were able to restart the song from the beginning and it went off without a hitch.

Check out the footage below.

Brand New Debut “Sealed to Me” at L.A. Show

The week isn’t even over and Brand New has debuted another new song.

Last night, the Long Island band made their fans’ hearts stop when they debuted their third new song in the past two weeks.

The track which is titled “Sealed to Me” was performed for the first time at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

Before the show, it appears, they handed out piece of paper with the lyrics printed on it.

Of course, since we live in the digital age, several audience members were able to record footage of the performance and upload it for us to see.

In one of several videos available, we see and hear frontman Jesse Lacey tell the audience how hard it has been to write and record new music.

“You try and it doesn’t work. And then other times, you come back to it and try again it out again and you like it. And then a couple of weeks later, you hate the thing that you did,” said Lacey.

“We’re a real mess like that that’s why it takes us so long to write music.”

Check out the video below which features Lacey admitting how much of a pain he is to everyone including his wife and band before “Sealed to Me” begins.

Brand New’s “official new song in six years,” “Mene,” was released earlier this week as a free download. For those who missed the chance to get the track for free, it’s currently available on iTunes.

Brand New Premiere New Song, “Mene”

After Amazon ruined the surprise of a new song from Brand New (the mega media market place posted the name of the track and a 30-second clip of it), the band have now formally announced their official first new song in six years, “Mene.”

Last week, live footage of the Long Island band performing a new track titled “Don’t Feel Anything” during a show in Denver had hardcore fans assuming that the song would be the first of many new tracks heading our way, and apparently they were on to something.

As of now, the new track is being streamed over at Brand New’s newly redesigned website. The homepage of the site features a retrospective music video for the new song as well as the news that the track is currently available as a free download. For those interested, hurry. According to the band, it will only be available for a limited time.

All you need to do is join their mailing list and the track is all yours.

For those who miss the free download period, the track will be available for purchase beginning this Wednesday (April 15).

All the new stuff coming from Brand New is all the evidence need that they have something big up their sleeve. With all the tour dates and cryptic hints, it’s hard to not think that a new album might be coming our way really soon.

Brand New Finally Premiere New Song

It feels like Brand New fans have been waiting forever for the band to release new material and after a six years wait, it’s finally happened.

During their show at Denver’s Fillmore Auditorium last night (April 8), the Long Island band kicked off their set with a new track.

Some are reporting that the new song is titled “Don’t Feel Anything” which would seem plausible since the chorus does repeat those words over and over again.

Check out some fan shot videos of the show from several different angles.

The song’s debut comes on the heels of the band finally mailing out those The Devil and God are Raging Inside of Me lyric booklets nine years after they were suppose to (we guess they were busy?).

Yesterday afternoon, Brand New fans went crazy when the band cleaned their Instagram account and relaunched it with a new promo photo of the band (as seen above) and a photo advising those attending upcoming shows that a second printing of the booklets will be at the shows and soon online.

Let’s hope this is not the end.

This morning, the Chicago-based event revealed their complete line-up. The 2015 incarnation of the annual festival will include Florence + The Machine and Paul McCartney as headliners. Funny enough, Florence and McCartney have both become music festival staples this year.

Metallica, Sam Smith, Of Monsters and Men, Twenty One Pilots, Brand New, Walk The Moon, and many more will also be joining the newly announced list.

Check out the complete list of performers below which instead of being a boring poster, Lollapalooza decided to turn it into a gif. Welcome to the 21st century.

Three-day general admission passes are long gone, but the festival organizers did advise that single day passes will go on sale beginning on today at 10 a.m. CT, so get on it quickly if you plan on attending this year’s event.

Riot Fest Toronto Announces Rocking Line-Up

Toronto is about to be hit with some good music later this year.

Riot Fest organizers revealed earlier today the full line-up for their Toronto edition of Riot Fest. The festival which will take place at Downsview Park in Toronto announced that Canadian bands City and Colour and Billy Talent will be performing at this year’s event, but also making the line-up are The National, Rise Against, and Death Cab for Cutie.

But then the festival found themselves creating the most perfect coincidence to mankind or at least to some of our teenaged hearts happen; Taking Back Sunday and Brand New are on the same bill.

After all these years, Taking Back Sunday and Brand New will perform at the same exact show, though there is no word on whether or not it means that the two former friend bands will be playing on the same day, let alone on the same stage, but one can dream.

Tickets for the Riot Fest Toronto can be found on Ticketfly, while the show is slated to take place on Sept. 6-7. The full line-up can be seen below, thanks to the people behind the festival.

Now, is anyone going to be nice enough to help us hitch a ride to Toronto in early September?

Brand New Cover Nine Inch Nails in Manchester

Brand New have been taking some cues from Bruce Springsteen and have begun to cover some tracks during their sets on their current tour.

During their show in London last week, the band played “The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot” from Deja Entendu when they decided to do something a little different by including covers of Coldplay’s “Yellow” and Modest Mouse’s “Trailer Trash.”

Like London, the band did the same things at their show last night (April 18) in Manchester, but rather than including it as a live mix to one of their own songs, they went on to cover Nine Inch Nails’ “Wish” on its own. Watch the fan shot video below and tell us if there’s a song in your opinion that the band should cover in the future.

Brand New are currently on tour in Europe, scheduled to perform in Germany, England, and Italy followed by a touring stint in North America for selected stops in the United States and Canada.
