Bowling for Soup, Reel Big Fish announce summertime outing

Long love the nostalgia!

On Monday (March 11), Reel Big Fish and Bowling for Soup announced plans to embark on a massive tour later this year. The co-headlining excursion will find the two bands performing at venues across the United States during the summer months.

The 19-stop outing will include shows in Orlando, Atlanta, Silver Springs, Portland, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, and more during the months of June, July, and August. The newly announced tour will begin on June 19 at Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale and conclude a month and a half later on Aug. 3 at the Ogden Theatre in Denver.

In a surprising twist, this is the first time the two bands have ever toured together.

“There are those bands with which the fans tell you ‘you should tour with them.’ Often times, you make friends with those bands, and you always say to one another, ‘we GOTTA tour together,’” Bowling for Soup vocalist/guitarist Jaret Reddick said in a press statement.

“Well, both those things have been happening for years, and this summer, while on the final cross-country Vans Warped Tour, Aaron from Reel Big Fish and I decided we were going to make it happen! And we did! I could NOT be more excited for this summer! Two of the most fun bands on the planet together at last! People will have sore faces from smiling after this one!”

“We’re still doing that tour? I thought I pulled the plug on that terrible idea a long time ago!” Reel Big Fish frontman Aaron Barrett adds.

Nerf Herder and MEST were announced as the supporting acts for the upcoming tour. Nerf Herder will open during the first half of the trip while MEST will take over the role during the second half.

Bowling for Soup is offering VIP packages for this upcoming, co-headlining jaunt. The package includes a show ticket, priority entry to the gig, an acoustic performance by Reddick and bassist Rob Felicetti, a meet-and-greet session with photo, and an exclusive autographed poster.

VIP packages go on sale this Tuesday, March 12, at 10 a.m. local time on Bowling for Soup’s website.

General ticket sales begin this Friday, March 15, at 10 a.m. local time on both band’s websites.

Bowling for Soup’s last studio album was 2016’s Drunk Dynasty, though they did recently release a live album/DVD titled Older, Fatter, Still the Greatest Ever: Live From Brixton.

As for their co-headliners Reel Big Fish, the group recently released their ninth studio album, Life Sucks… Let’s Dance!

Vans Warped Tour reveals 2017 lineup

After months of waiting, the lineup for the 2017 incarnation of the Vans Warped Tour has been announced. On Wednesday (March 22), the annual summertime traveling music festival unleashed its lineup which, as always, was met with a lot of mixed reactions. Some potential attendees have labeled it the “best lineup ever” (excuse us, have you see the lineup from 2004 or 2005 ?) while others have said that it might be the worst lineup ever. No matter what your outlook on the lineup is, we can all agree that there is a little for everyone who may attend.

This year’s lineup will include a combination of older/Warped veteran bands as well as some up-and-coming artists. Goldfinger, Anti-Flag, Hawthorne Heights, Save Ferris, Silverstein, American Authors, Bowling for Soup, Streetlight Manifesto, I Prevail, Dance Gavin Dance, GWAR, Blessthefall, Too Close to Touch, Nevershoutnever, New Year’s Day, Neck Deep, and many, many more are set to hit the road this summer. Tickets for all the show are currently available on the Warped Tour’s website here. The complete lineup for Warped Tour 2017 can be seen below while the complete itinerary for the summer punk-rock summer camp can be seen here.

Sadly, it appears as if there will be one massive change to this year’s tour; free parental tickets will no longer be offered. For the past 21 years, the music festival has provided free tickets for parents who do not trust their kids to go to the show alone, so long as the kid has a purchased ticket. In a press statement, festival organizers revealed that in hopes of going back to their “counter-culture roots” and booking a more “balanced lineup including many legacy acts” they will no longer need to offer free parent tickets; hopefully, the parents would want to come see the acts.

Vans Warped Tour launches at sea edition

wapedatsea

What’s more fun than getting all your friends together to spend 12 hours in the heat as you watch some of your favorite bands perform 30 minute sets? How about doing the same exact thing, except on a boat in the middle of the ocean during the week of Halloween? On Wednesday (Dec. 7), Vans Warped Tour head-honcho Kevin Lyman announced the inaugural Warped Rewind at Sea cruise.

As the name implies, Warped Rewind at Sea takes all the things Warped Tour attendees love about the “punk-rock summer camp” and places them on a cruise ship. The event will be a “special experience for 2,300 Warped fans” which will include personal interactions with some of their favorite musicians.

The cruise, which will take place during the week of Oct. 28, 2017-Nov. 1, 2017 will include a four-night round-trip cruise from New Orleans to Cozumel, Mexico. During the four nights, the passengers will be treated to multiple performances by 3OH!3, Bowling for Soup, Cartel, Good Charlotte, Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Simple Plan, the Starting Line, and more to be announced at a later date.

The excursion will also feature DJs and comedians, much like Warped Tour on land, as well as a Q&A session with Lyman, activities and autograph sessions with the artists, “Emo Nite” parties, and more.

“Packing as much fun into a ship as we do into a parking lot seemed like a great challenge, and Sixthman has given us that opportunity,” said Lyman in a press release. “We are excited to finally bring Warped Tour to the sea and we hope you can join us.”

Tickets for Warped Rewind at Sea are currently available on the event’s website here. Watch the official announcement video below as you start planning how to shove all your black clothes and eyeliner into one huge luggage (spoiler: it’s hard).
