Charli XCX and Lizzo join forces for ‘Blame it on Your Love’

What happens when two of pop’s biggest stars get together for a collaboration? You get a tune that you will definitely be blasting from your car’s stereo all summer long.

On Wednesday (May 15), Charli XCX and Lizzo finally unleashed their much-publicized joint track. Titled “Blame it on Your Love,” the new record finds Charli XCX proving that she’s one of pop music’s biggest powerhouses while Lizzo kills it with her rapping during the last minute of the tune.

“I hope this becomes your new party anthem,” Charli XCX writes about the new jam.

“This song has been in my life for around three years now, and I’m so happy to be releasing it. I love you all. Let the new era begin.”

The song was written in Los Angeles and produced by Stargate, with additional production by A. G. Cook and Finn Keane.

For those keeping a close ear to the song, they may notice a little Easter egg courtesy of Charli XCX. The main song sampled on the new track is from “Track 10” off the musician’s album Pop 2.

The joint song is just the beginning for the two artists.

Charli XCX is going to have a busy summer this year with a slew of performances already scheduled. The musician will perform at New York’s Governors Ball Music Festival (June 2), co-headline Los Angeles’ Go West Fest with Troye Sivan (June 6), and hit the stage at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago (July 21). After that, she’ll head across the pond for Radio 1 Big Weekend in Newcastle and Primavera Sound in Barcelona.

As for Lizzo, the singer is showing no signs of stopping. The singer’s recently announced North American “Cuz I Love You” tour is completely sold out. Due to the high demand, additional dates have been added including a second night at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall, a third night at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Palladium, and an additional night at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco.

Lizzo’s debut album Cuz I Love You debuted at the number six spot on the Billboard 200 chart. The album also earned the number one spot on the Pop Album, Digital Album, and New Release Debut Album charts while also earning the number two spot on the Billboard Top Albums chart.
