Cardi B leads 2019 Billboard Music Awards with 21 nominations

Cardi B is here to remind everyone that’s she’s here to “make money move,” and her 21 Billboard Music Awards nominations are proof of that.

On Thursday (April 4), Billboard unveiled the full list of nominees for this year’s Billboard Music Awards. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper leads the pack with a total of 21 nominations in several main categories like “Top Artist,” “Top Hot 100 Artist,” “Top Streaming Artist,” “Top Billboard 200 Album,” and more.

The “I Like It” rapper’s number of nominations this year puts her just shy of meeting the record-breaking amount of nominations —22— which was set by Drake and the Chainsmokers in 2017.

Following Cardi B with the most nominations are Drake and Post Malone. Both artists received a total of 17 nominations apiece. The rappers will go head-to-head in several categories including “Top Rap Artist,” “Top Billboard 200 Album,” “Top Rap Song,” and “Top Rap Male Artist.”

Behind Drake and Post Malone is Travis Scott with a total of 12 nominations. Scott will compete in many of the same categories as Cardi B, Drake, and Post Malone.

If you’re looking for who’s representing the rock and alternative genres at the Billboard Music Awards, you don’t need to look very far; there aren’t many rock bands on the list. Maroon 5 leads the “rock” genre with a total of seven nominations while Imagine Dragons come in with a total of six (double nomination in the “Top Rock Song” category).

Panic! at the Disco comes in with four nominations while Twenty One Pilots and lovelytheband are tied with two apiece.

This year, the Billboard Music Awards will feature two fan-voted categories; “Top Social Artist” and “Chart Achievement.”

The 2019 Billboard Music Awards will take place at the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 1. The show will air live on NBC at 8 p.m. ET. Kelly Clarkson will host the event. Clarkson, with the help of country duo Dan + Shay, announced the full list of nominees on the “Today” show earlier in the day.

Both Grammy winners’ nominations include Top Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album, Top Hot 100 Song, and Top Selling Album.

Coming in second with a total of 14 nominations is Bruno Mars. Mars, who is also a recent Grammy winner, is nominated for Top Radio Songs Artist, Top R&B Artist, and Top R&B Song which features two of his current hits (“That’s What I Like” and “Finesse” with Cardi B).

Right behind Mars is Post Malone with a total of 12 nominations. The “Rockstar” rapper’s nominations include Top Collaboration with 21 Savage for “Rockstar,” Top Streaming Songs Artist, and Top Streaming Song (Audio) which features two of his songs (“Rockstar” and “Congratulations”).

Injecting the awards show with a little bit of rock are the guys from Imagine Dragons who garnered a total of 10 nominations this year. The Las Vegas guys’ nominations include Top Radio Song, Top Duo/Group, and Top Selling Song which include two of their Evolve singles“Believer” and “Thunder.”

Tied with a total of eight nominations apiece are Cardi B and Justin Bieber. The Bronx-based rapper’s nominations include Top Streaming Songs Artist, Top Streaming Song (Video) for “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves),” and Top New Artist.

As for Bieber, most of his nominations come in the form of song contributions (Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despactio” and DJ Khaled’s “I’m the One”). The only non-contribtuion nomination the pop star received this year is in the Top Social Artist category.

2015 Billboard Music Awards Nominees Announced

After a several hour-long reveal, the nominees for this year’s Billboard Music Awards have been unveiled.

Leading the pack with the most nomination, to the surprise of no one, is Taylor Swift with a total of 14 nominations in 13 of the 40 categories. Falling behind her are Sam Smith with 13, Iggy Azalea with 12, and Meghan Trainor with nine.

from all the categories, there is only one that will be fan voted; the Billboard Chart Achievement Award. Swift, Trainor, Azalea are up for the fan-centric award though we’re putting money on Swift winning pretty much everything she’s nominated for.

Those interested in voting on that award can go to Billboard.com, BillboardMusicAwards.com, and/or Twitter to put in their two cents.

The show will air live from the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas on Sunday May 17 from 8-11 p.m. on ABC.

Michael Jackson “Experience” to Happen on Billboard Music Awards

image

Michael Jackson might have left us years ago, but 2014 is beginning to look like the year he comes back to us, even if it’s just through songs.

Billboard recently announced that a Michael Jackson experience will be happening during the publication’s yearly music award show. The show which will air live on May 18 from the MGM Grand Gardens in Las Vegas revealed the news, saying that the late King of Pop’s estate had worked on the project.

The estate’s claim is that this world premiere experience will let fans and casual listeners alike see the pop star “like you’ve never seen him before.” Other than that, no more information about what exactly that means has been revealed.

This news comes on the heels of the first single from Xscape, “Love Never Felt So Good” being released last week while another new track, “Chicago” was unveiled earlier this week.

Aside from this much anticipated special, performers of the night include Miley Cyrus, Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez,Pitbull, 5 Seconds of Summer, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Derulo, Imagine Dragons, Luke Bryan, John Legend, OneRepublic, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood. Jordin Sparks, Kelly Rowland, Pete Wentz, Wiz Khalifa, and more are confirmed to be presenting.

Billboard Music Award Reveal Performers

billboard2014

The other day we got the full list of nominees for this year’s Billboard Music Awards and now, some of the performers for the show have been revealed.

Previously, it was announced that Jason Derulo, who broke the news about the nominees on Good Morning America a few days ago, would be performing on the award show. Also joining the “Talk Dirty to Me” singer will be Luke Bryan, John Legend, OneRepublic and Imagine Dragons.

Imagine Dragons leads the pack with a total of 12 nominations including “Top Artist,” “Top Duo/Group,” “Top Hot 100 Artist,” “Top Digital Songs Artist,” “Top Radio Songs Artist,” “Top Streaming Artist,” “Top Rock Artist,” “Top Rock Album,” “Top Hot 100 Song,” “Top Digital Song,” “Top Streaming Song (Audio),” and “Top Rock Song” twice, for “Demons” and “Radioactive.”

The Las Vegas-based band are tied with Lorde for the most nominations at this year’s event that is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 18 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.

Bryan comes in with a total of six nominations this year, the most that any country artist has ever gotten. His nominations include “Top Male Artist,” “Top Billboard 200 Artist,” “Top Country Artist,” “Top Billboard 200 Album,” “Top Country Album” and “Top Country Song” twice.

John Legend is up for one award this year, the Milestone Award while OneRepublic comes in with two nominations for “Top Duo/Group” and “Top Digital Song” for their hit “Counting Stars.”
