Billboard Award Nominees Revealed

Last month, we were given word that some of pop music’s biggest stars would be gracing the stage at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for the annual Billboard Awards.

Today, the people behind the show have announced the nominees for the categories and in what might be a first; there’s a three-way tie for who has the most nominations for this year’s awards. Maroon 5, fun. and Taylor Swift have each become finalists in 11 of the categories.

Right behind them are Rihanna with 10, Carly Rae Jepsen with nine and One Direction with eight (cue all the One Directioners tears). But the fun doesn’t stop there; Swift, Maroon 5, Rihanna, One Direction and Justin Bieber have become finalists for the top artist award.

As for album of the year, it looks like another tough race with Adele’s “21” being in the running alongside Mumford and Sons’ “Babel,” Swift’s “Red” and what might not be fair, but totally predictable, One Direction have two albums in this category, “Up All Night” and “Take Me Home.”

The Billboard Awards will air live on May 19th with performances by Bruno Mars, Miguel, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift and Prince.

Billboard Awards’ Performers Announced

Another award show, another list of performers.

The Billboard Awards have just announced that Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber are just some of the performers for this year’s  award ceremony. The list will also include Bruno Mars and newcomer, Miguel. Both Mars and Miguel are both up for a new award this year called the Milestone Award.

“The Milestone Award, is a new honor that is presented to an act who has achieved a landmark on the Billboard charts in the last year” reports Entertainment Weekly.

The Milestone Award is voted by the fans which can be done online here. The list will be narrowed down to three within the month.

Other nominations include country act, The Band Perry as week as Mr. Worldwide himself, Pitbull. Other than this scarce piece of information, other nominations and categories have yet to be release. But, it was announced that Prince will be getting the Icon Award at the ceremony this year.

The Billboard Award will be airing live on ABC from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 19.
