Coachella 2017 lineup unveiled

coachella2017

The new year has barely kicked off and Coachella has already unveiled their star-studded lineup for the 2017 edition of the music festival. On Tuesday (Jan. 3), the annual California music festival unleashed it’s lengthy and star-studded lineup for 2017. Radiohead will headline both Friday (April 14 and 21) of the event while Beyoncé will headline both Saturdays (April 15 and 22). Kendrick Lamar will close out each Sunday (April 16 and 23) of the shows.

Radiohead, Beyoncé, and Kendrick Lamar maybe the bigger font artists on the band, but a slew of other big names will also perform during the two weekend. The xx, Travis Scott, Father John Misty, Empire of the Sun, Dillon Francis, Bon Iver, Future, DJ Snake, Martin Garrix, Gucci Mane, Lorde, Justice, New Order, and many more join the long list of artists taking over Indio, Calif. in late April. The music festival’s official poster with all the musicians scheduled for the event can be seen below.

Coachella 2017 is set to take over the Empire Polo Club during two weekends in April. The first weekend is scheduled for April 14-17 while the second weekend will take place from April 21-23. Advance ticket sales took place last June which allowed buyers to participate in the Coachella payment plan. For those who did not purchase their passes during the advance ticket sales, general passes will go on sale beginning this Wednesday, Jan. 4, at 11 a.m. PST. For more information about the music festival or tickets, head on over to Coachella’s website here.

Coldplay Release Beyoncé Featured Song

image

With a few days left until the release of their seventh studio album, Coldplay has released another song off the new record. On Monday (Nov. 30), the group debuted their third song off of A Head Full of Dreams. The new track is titled “Hymn for the Weekend” and made its official debut during Annie Mac’s BBC Radio show, yesterday afternoon.

If the title of the song sticks out to you, it’s because it’s the song that features Beyoncé. Last week, the United Kingdom-based band posted snippets of all their new songs on Instagram while also revealing which were the ones to feature guest stars. Coldplay had previously confirmed that “Hymn for the Weekend” was the track that the pop star lent her vocals to.

After the song made its world premiere, bassist Guy Berryman called into the show to speak about the song. As it turns out, frontman Chris Martin wanted the song to be a “party jam.” Instead, things changed, as did the story behind the song. “Then the whole story changed and then he asked Beyoncé to sing on it, and she very kindly said she would.”

Check out the song here.

The premiere of “Hymn for the Weekend” comes a few days after another new song from the album was released. During the weekend, Coldplay released the song “Everglow” which feature vocals from Martin’s ex-wife/actress Gwynth Paltrow.

Before that, the band released lead single “Adventure of a Lifetime” as well as its music video which features monkey versions of the band members performing the song. A Head Full of Dreams is set to be released this Friday, Dec. 4.

Budweiser Made in America Festival Unveil 2015 Philadelphia Line-Up

BEYONCE AND THE WEEKND TO HEADLINE 2015 BUDWEISER MADE IN AMERICA FESTIVAL

While Jay-Z’s TiDAL is not exactly going as planned, one thing the rapper can rely on is the line-up for his Budweiser Made in America Festival is going to be a collection of artists to give everyone with a specific music taste a little something.

Today, the line-up for the 2015 Philadelphia edition of the weekend-long festival was unveiled and just like it was stated before, there are several artists to satisfy everyone’s music palette.

Headlining the festival will be Beyoncé, though she hasn’t put out any new music in a while, and The Weeknd, fresh off the success of his Fifty Shades of Grey Soundtrack songs.

Also on the line-up are Death Cab For Cutie, Modest Mouse, Nick Jonas, Metric, De La Soul, Future, and many more.

The complete list of artists heading to Philly in September can be seen below.

Proceeds from the two-day festival will benefit the United Ways in Greater Philadelphia, Southern New Jersey, and Lancaster County, PA.

Garbage Frontwoman Calls Out Kanye West’s Grammy “Disrespect”

Kanye West’s attempt to re-do his “Imma let you finish” from the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards was at first believed to be a joke, but the rapper soon made people realize that he doesn’t have a single funny bone in his body and did it just to spite the true winner of “Album of the Year.” Because, you know, if Kanye doesn’t like it, everyone else doesn’t like it either.

Do we need anymore proof that he’s “America’s Biggest Douchebag”?

For the most part, the vast majority of people have taken a stance against West and his immature antics, but artists and musicians a like have been rather mum about the attack on artistry and the fact that a man who plays a lot of instruments, sings, and writes his own music is not an artist (as opposed to a guy who just press play and auto-tunes everything).

One musician who definitely went on the defensive, not allowing people to just claim “it’s Kanye just being Kanye,” is Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson.

Manson, who with her group have earned seven Grammy nominations, took to Facebook to publish and open letter directed at West and his lack of a conscience and ego the size of the planet.

“Dear Kanye West,

It is YOU who is so busy disrespecting artistry. You disrespect your own remarkable talents and most importantly you disrespect the talent, hard work and tenacity of all artists when you go so rudely and savagely after such an accomplished and humble artist like BECK.

You make yourself look small and petty and spoilt.

In attempting to reduce the importance of one great talent over another, you make a mockery of all musicians and music from every genre, including your own.

Grow up and stop throwing your toys around. You are making yourself look like a complete twat.

PS I’m pretty certain Beyoncé doesn’t need you fighting any battles on her account. Seems like she’s got everything covered perfectly well on her own.”

And we agree.

‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Soundtrack Artists Unmasked

image

While we will be the first to admit that we have read the Fifty Shades of Grey series (several times, we might add), we will also be the first to admit that the casting for the movie is not what we imagined nor are we that excited for it following all the publicity behind it.

One thing we are excited for is the soundtrack for the upcoming film.

Since the new version of Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love” made its debut during the first trailer for the film, we’ve been wondering what the soundtrack would sound like considering music plays a role in the book series.

Yesterday afternoon, the full tracklist for the soundtrack was unveiled and like we had already known, Beyoncé, The Weeknd, and Ellie Goulding are some of the artists on the list, but between Sia, Frank Sinatra, and The Rolling Stones you will find an interesting addition: Danny Elfman.

Yes, the man who voiced Jack Skellington and has written countless scores for Tim Burton will be contributing two scores for the soundtrack: one in honor of our main characters Ana and Christian, and another titled, “Did That Hurt?”

Fitting.

Check out the full tracklist below as well as The Weeknd and Ellie Goulding’s previously released songs.

FIFTY SHADES OF GREY SOUNDTRACK TRACKLIST:

1. “I Put A Spell On You (Fifty Shades of Grey)” – Annie Lennox
2. “Undiscovered” – Laura Welsh
3. “Earned It (Fifty Shades Of Grey)” – The Weeknd
4. “Meet Me In The Middle” – Jessie Ware
5. “Love Me Like You Do” – Ellie Goulding
6. “Haunted (Michael Diamond Remix)” – Beyoncé
7. “Salted Wound” – Sia
8. “Beast Of Burden” – The Rolling Stones
9. “I’m On Fire” – AWOLNATION
10. “Crazy In Love (2014 Remix)” – Beyoncé
11. “Witchcraft” – Frank Sinatra
12. “One Last Night” – Vaults
13. “Where You Belong” – The Weeknd
14. “I Know You” – Skylar Grey
15. “Ana And Christian” – Danny Elfman
16. “Did That Hurt?” – Danny Elfman

Fifty Shades of Grey will be released in theaters on Feb. 13, so get your girlfriends together and go see it for Galentine’s Day, we guess.

Watch No Doubt and Sting Perform “Message in a Bottle”

sting_no_doubt_global_citizen_2014_l

It’s been a couple of years since No Doubt have been on the stage together, but the band hit the stage last night at the Global Citizen Festival in New York City.

For their encore, the band were joined on stage by Sting to perform his song, “Message in a Bottle.”

The special performance wasn’t so much of a surprise considering that earlier in the week, it was revealed Sting would be hitting the stage with the California band, but that was all that was announced.

Check out the video of the performance.

No Doubt and Sting were just some of the acts that performed at the third annual Global Citizen Festival. Also taking the stage were power-couple Jay-Z and Beyoncé who teamed up for Jay-Z’s “Holy Grail,”  like they did during the “On the Run” Tour with Beyoncé filling in on Justin Timberlake’s parts, and “Forever Young.”

The Roots, fun., Alicia Keys, and Tiesto also performed at the festival is sponsored by the Global Citizen movement, an initiative of the Global Poverty Project, which works to end extreme poverty by 2030.

The goal of the festival is to raise awareness and promote activism to end poverty. This year, Global Citizen is striving for commitments in vaccines, education and sanitation.
