Avicii Cancels More Tour Dates

avicii

Bad news for electronic dance music fans hoping to see Avicii in concert in the near future; the DJ has had to cancel the rest of his tour due to health concerns.

This cancellation of his upcoming tour dates isn’t the first time Avicii (real name Tim Bergling) has had to cancel a show/appearance. Back in March, the Swedish producer had to cancel his headlining appearance at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival and was admitted to the hospital.

After his admittance, the producer revealed that his health concern was much more serious than they anticipated in which he had to have surgery to remove his gall bladder and appendix.

With the new string of cancellations, Avicii’s management have released the following statement.

Oh yeah, and did we mention that yesterday was his 25th birthday? Not a good way to start 25.

“At Night Management has tabled all touring and promotional activities for Avicii, aka Tim Bergling, until further notice so that he can fully recuperate from lingering health issues related to surgeries that removed his gall bladder and appendix earlier this year.

The international superstar, who is the #1 Most Influential Artist Under 25 according to Spotify, is taking a break at home in Stockholm so he can regain his strength and physical well-being before the release of a new album project next year.”

Listen to the 2014 FIFA World Cup Anthem

worldcup

Last month, Pitbull, Jennifer Lopez and Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte dropped their official song for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, “We Are One”. Before the song had been released, it was confirmed that the official anthem, not to be confused with the song, would be titled “Dar Um Jeito” (“We Will Find A Way”) performed by Carlos Santana, Wyclef, Avicii and Brazilian singer Alexandre Pire.

The song is now available through digital media outlets and Vevo and will be featured on the 2014 FIFA World Cup Soundtrack which will be released on May 12 through RCA Records in the United States. The soundtrack will not only feature both the Pitbull track and the anthem, it will also feature 12 tracks by various familiar World Cup artists including Ricky Martin and Shakira, Sergio Mendes, The Isley Brothers and Bebel Gilberto.

For now check out the new song which will be performed live during the closing ceremony of the soccer (or futbol) tournament on July 13 in Rio de Janiero.

Avicii Pulls Out of Ultra Due to Illness

avicii

In what came as a blow to many fans attending Ultra Music Festival in Miami this weekend, Avicii had to pull out last-minute.

Last night, TMZ has reported that the Swedish DJ had been hospitalized and would be missing his pre-Ultra performance at Miami Beach’s Hyde Beach at the SLS Hotel which had been changed to the Avicii Hotel for that night. Audience members had been told that he was rushed to the hospital for severe abdominal pains, nausea, and a fever which was recently revealed to be due to his gallbladder.

“I was with Tim at the hospital last night and this morning,” Ash Pournouri, Avicii’s manager said to E! News earlier in the day.

“He was really disappointed that he wasn’t able to come to the AVICII Hotel at SLS and perform for all his fans. He really appreciated all the hard work done by SLS, Ushuaia, At Night and SBE in creating the space.  It was frustrating for him not to have seen it. And of course, ULTRA has been so important to us for so many years, it’s a big letdown not being able to play.”

Upon finding out about his sudden illness and the possibility that he wouldn’t be able to perform, Ultra managed to wrangle in Deadmau5 to fill in for his headlining, closing gig on Saturday.

The DJ, whose real name is Tim Bergling, took to his Facebook to address the situation and inform fans on what is currently going on with his sudden hospitalization and what led to it. His statement can be read below.

“I’m really sorry but as some of you have already heard, I will not be playing Ultra Festival this weekend. My fans know that I have had issues in the past with my stomach and pancreatitis…I woke up on Wednesday morning with serious pain but I flew to Miami anyway, hoping that it would go away. The pain was still there when I landed so I went straight to hospital. I was treated and left later that night.Unfortunately, the pain came back yesterday afternoon and I returned to the hospital where they admitted me to stay overnight. My doctors have decided to operate and remove my gall bladder tomorrow morning. It’s a routine procedure and all going well, I expect to be fully recovered and back on my feet in time for my US True Tour.

Thanks for your concern everyone, it means a lot to me!

– From Avicii”

MTV might have gifted North America their Video Music Awards a few months back, like anyone could forget because of a certain former Disney star and her attempt at twerking, but now, the “music” network floated across the pond to give us the European version of the show.

The MTV European Music Awards took place last night at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome with performances from Katy Perry, The Killers, Imagine Dragons and yes that person we described above. The show was hosted by LMFAO’s RedFoo, you know the one with the big ol’ fro and neon colored outfit. Avicii to Release Debut Album in September

avi

The whole world already knows about Swedish DJ, Avicii (aka Tim Bergling) for his hit song, “Levels,” but even though the song had been a major hit on the radio and even appeared on music charts, you’d be amazed to know he hasn’t even released a studio album yet.

Avicii, who’s played the mainstage at Ultra Music Festival two years in a row, has announced that he will be releasing his debut album on September 17th. The new album will be titled, #True (yes, with a hashtag). This past March, while performing at UMF, the DJ played some of the new tracks from the album which surprisingly is not just straight EDM (electronic dance music).

“Disruption is good when a scene is half stuck,” Avicii said of the mixed reactions the audience had about his set. “We wanted to bring 15 minutes of something fresh to break [Ultra] up. We knew people would be provoked.”

The new album will feature a wide variety of guests which help make it unique, rather than the same style of music for an entire album. Mac Davis, Incubus’ Michael Einsinger, and recent Daft Punk collaborator, Nile Rodgers will all be featured on the album; not the typical people to be associated with EDM.

But even though this is his first album, there’s another first to come along with it; the first time PRMD Music and Island Records will work together. Both labels have joined forces to co-release the DJ’s debut which is funny since Avicii is currently signed to Island Record while his manager is a boardmember for PRMD Music.

But no matter what the DJ finished his interview with Billboard by saying that he has nothing to prove with this album. If people love it, they love it and if they don’t he doesn’t mind that either.

For now, you can check out one of his new tracks, “Wake Me Up” which will hit radio and iTunes on June 25.

UK’s Dance Festival, Creamfields, Announces Headliners

Creamfields2013

Creamfields has been dubbed “the world’s leading dance music festival” by organizers and they are definitely sticking to that by scheduling some of the world’s biggest DJs to come and perform at the dance festival. The Prodigy, Tiesto, Avicii and David Guetta have all been confirmed to be performing at the three day music festival.

The Prodigy are set to headline the show on Saturday, this being their only summer festival appearance in Britain. While The Prodigy performs at one of the two main stages of the event, Avicii will be taking the DJing duties at the other main stage on Saturday. On Sunday, Tiesto and David Guetta will be taking the main stages as their own.

While these are just some of the names of the DJs on the list, there are many more such as Groove Armada, Richie Hawtin, Paul Oakenfold, Pete Tong, Afrojack, Ferry Corsten, Benny Benassi, Sasha, and Baauer who we all know as the mastermind producer behind the “Harlem Shake.”

Last year, there was an issue with flooding caused by a storm which led to acts such as Deadmau5, Tiesto and others not being able to perform. But this year, organizers say that they spent a lot of money to make sure that such a thing did not happen again so that everyone who attends don’t miss out because of a little rain.

Creamfields will be taking place in Daresbury Aug. 23–25.
