Congrats to Coldplay on receiving this year’s Hollywood Song Award!
The band who are made up of Chris Martin, Guy Berryman,Will Champion and Jonny Buckland, will receive the award at the 17th annual Hollywood Film Awards, the first awards show of the 2013 season. The song that won the award is their recently released new track, Atlas which is on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Soundtrack.
The song was just released this past September, but it has already made its way up several charts including the iTunes charts which it took its place at number one.
Not too shabby for a their first new song since 2011’s Mylo Xyloto.
The awards’ gala is set to take place on October 21 at the Beverly Hilton and Martin will be accepting the award on behalf of the group and also perform it at the event.
The Hollywood Film Awards are determined by founder and executive director Carlos de Abreu and as well as an advisory committee.
“The Hollywood Film Awards is thrilled to present the Hollywood Song Award to a band as globally respected and prolific as Coldplay. They continue to build their legacy and, with ‘Atlas’ marking the first time they have recorded for a motion picture, we cannot think of an artist better deserving of this honor,” de Abreu was quoted as saying.
While Coldplay are one of the honorees for the event there are many others that have already been announced as well including Harrison Ford, Julia Roberts, Sandra Bullock, Matthew McConaughey and many more.
