Awful News: Two Men Arrested for Assaulting Woman at Reading and Leeds

readingleeds

What should be one of the most enjoyable weekends across the pond has turned into an awful one for one attendants.

The Guardian is reporting that two people were arrested during yesterday’s installation of Reading and Leeds and not for some petty crime charge like theft or drugs, but for something a lot more serious.

According to British press, a 14-year-old boy from Surrey and a 31-year-old man from London have been arrested on suspicion of raping a young woman and are currently being held by Thames Valley police.

The victim, a 19-year-old woman, reported being attacked Thursday night “in a caravan on the festival trader’s site.” The woman, said she had met the man and the boy earlier in the day near an ice-cream van near a mobile phone charging station in one of the campsite.

But for those attending this year’s event and are a little concerned about things like this being a norm, don’t worry because it appears that the police have things under control, according to Chief Inspector Dave Parker, who spoke directly with The Guardian about this possibly occurring again.

“There is currently a scene watch in place and I would like to reassure those attending the festival that crime levels remain low and crimes of this nature are very rare. Officers are patrolling the site to support on-site security and if anyone has any concerns, please feel free to approach our officers to discuss this.”

On the upside, there have only been 21 (reported) crimes committed since Wednesday; five alleged drug offenses and 13 suspected thefts.

This year’s line up of Reading and Leeds has quite roster with blink-182, Paramore, The Arctic Monkeys, Jimmy Eat World, Queens of the Stone Age, Imagine Dragons, You Me at Six and many (many, many) more.

MTV Video Music Awards Reveal Full List of Performers

wpid-mtv-vmas-forum-inglewood.jpeg

The MTV Video Music Awards are right around the corner and the annual music award show has finally unveiled the full list of performers that are slated to take the stage to perform.

For the last few weeks, the former music television network had been revealing performers once at a time to prolong the suspense for those who tune in annually.

Today, Sam Smith was revealed as the last performer on the list. Throughout the past weeks, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Rita Ora, Iggy Azalea, Maroon 5, Usher, Ariana Grande, 5 Seconds of Summer and Beyoncé (who will also be receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award) had been revealed to be taking the stage at some point during the normally two and a half hour music-centric award program.

In the award nomination portion of the show, Beyoncé leads this year’s pack with a grand total of eight while fellow performer, Iggy Azalea trails behind with seven nominations.

This year, MTV will be introducing a new category to the award show, the MTV Clubland Award which will capitalize on the recent popularity of electronic dance music (EDM).

The full list of nominees can be found here. The MTV Video Music Award will take place this Sunday, August 24, live from the refurbished The Forum in Inglewood, CA beginning at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Want to Book Your Favorite Musician? It’ll Cost You: Part 2

image

Remember how a few months ago, there was a list going around the web letting fans know how much it would cost to have your favorite artists perform for you?

Well, it looks like there has been some new developments with that list. Turns out, the information that Degy Entertainment, the people who composed the actual list, used wasn’t exactly up-to-date. As was pointed out by Business Insider, the company did not “verify the veracity or timeliness of the list.”

Instead of pointing out all the flaws within the list, Business Insider teamed up with CelebrityTalent.net to reach out to managers in order to get a more accurate list of booking fee.

You can check out some of the brackets where your favorite artists fall into below, but to see the complete list, head on over here.

Want to Book Your Favorite Band? It Might Cost You

music

Over the past day, one of the most eye-opening lists was made and it all has to do with how much it would typically cost to book your favorite mudicians. Some musicians can start as low as $1.5K, but other, including high-profiled superstars, can easily cost you in the millions range. Can’t say we are surprised that some of the biggest names in pop culture and even some who haven’t had a hit song in a few years, can cost more than $100,000.

All that just to have someone sing you a song. YouTube and records, here we come. Or, we can always rob a bank.

Watch the 2014 Oscar Performances

oscars

If you were the small percentage that did not tune in to see the Oscars, then don’t worry, it was long and boring except for the parts that host Ellen DeGeneres was on-screen including making fun of people, giving out pizza and crashing Twitter with “The Worlds Most Retweeted” picture.

During the show, several artists took to the stage to perform their Oscar nominated songs. Pharrell with his Smokey the Bear hat took to the stage for the Despicable Me 2 theme and radio hit, “Happy” with a group of dancer. The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s Karen O. and Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig performed “The Moon Song” from Her while U2 paid tribute to Nelson Mandela with “Ordinary Love” from Mandela. Idina Menzel got in touch with Snow Queen, Elsa to perform “Let it Go” from Frozen after John Travolta-gate.

With the 75th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz is upon us and P!nk was asked to honor it by performing “Over the Rainbow.” Bette Midler sang “Wind Beneath My Wings” as part of the ‘In Memorium’ for all the fallen heroes of Hollywood.

All the videos can be seen below.
