Gaga Gives Us ‘Applause’

Just when you think Lady Gaga couldn’t get anymore crazy, she goes ahead and give us the music video for her new single, “Applause.”

“Applause” which was supposed to be released today, was pushed forward a week when Lady Gaga went into a head to head battle with hackers who were having a jolly ol’ time leaking her new material; the leakage also included that pretty decent Cher/Gaga duet.

Today, she gave us the video for it which features black and white footage, a wings made out of material for the singer, a hand-bra, some magic and a Franken-gaga. The video premiered this morning on Good Morning America, much to the delight of her Little Monsters.

While the song might not be one of her strongest, lyric-wise, the music video does leave you with that “scratch your head with confusion” sensation.

‘Applause’ Almost Didn’t Make it on ‘ARTPOP’

In today’s installment of Lady Gaga news, we have found out that the song that became “Applause” the first single off her highly anticipated album was almost left off the album.

In an interview with Ryan Seacrest, the pop star revealed that the song almost didn’t make the cut, but thanks to a last-minute listening session with Interscope Records co-founder Jimmy Iovine, the song was saved and made the final cut of the album.

Like it had been reported before, Mother Monster had around 70 to 100 songs to choice from when making the final decision on the lucky tracks to end up on ARTPOP.

“‘Applause’ almost didn’t make the album,” Lady Gaga told Seacrest in the interview. “We played ‘Applause’ last and Jimmy looked at me and said, ‘Every record that you played me is better than the one that you played before it, so the last one should be the first single.'”

Of course as we saw, the man behind Gaga’s label got the final say. After being released a week ahead of time because of hackers getting access to the track and leaking it, Gaga’s first new song since 2011’s Born this Way is so far recorded as selling 500,000 copies of the song, only rivaling that of Katy Perry’s new release, “Roar.”

Gaga will be making her return to the stage at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards where she will perform the single. On September 1, she will hit the stage for a full performance at the iTunes Festival for an hour, which Little Monster hope she will also toss in some new tracks to the mix.

ARTPOP on the other hand, isn’t schedule to be released until November 11.

So this is what a “pop emergency” looks like.

Lady Gaga has retracted her claws for one day to official release her first single since she went into hibernation. Though the song has been released almost a week before it’s official release date, fans of Mother Monster should thank those leakers for the rescheduling of the premiere.

Last week, took to the offense when she found out that someone or someones rather, had gotten a hold of a demo version of her new single “Applause” and had released it to the internet claiming that it was the album version of the song. When Gaga found out what had happen she was less than pleased with the outcome, even pleading with her Little Monsters to not listen to that version of the song and help her catch the culprits.

This weekend, we saw the pop star come to the defense of one of her fellow peers, Katy Perry when her new single “Roar” got the leaking treatment as well. Gaga tweeted Perry, “Wanna grab some shovels and fuck up some hackers? @katyperry excited to hear your ROAR, sorry to hear about your truck!”

For now, you can listen to Lady Gaga’s “Applause” here, just try to avoid all the iHeartRadio promotions that tend to happen every ten seconds.
