It has been sometime since it was confirmed that Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett would be collaborating on a new album, though they previously worked together on Bennett’s 2011 album, Duets II.
Today, the official title of the album and the lead song from it, had been released. During an appearance on the Today Show, the two music powerhouses revealed the title of the album will be Cheek to Cheek (get it, since they’re always cheek to cheek) and is set for a September release date.
In addition to the album titled, the video for the first single of of it was also revealed; the cover of Cole Porter’s “Anything Goes.”
During the interview, Bennett revealed that he loves the way Gaga sings, while Mother Monster herself revealed that one of her newest tattoos, a trumpet, was sketched by Bennett himself.
“I asked Tony to sketch a trumpet for me, and he decided to sketch Miles Davis’ trumpet — an iconic trumpet. I decided to get a tattoo ’cause I loved it so much,” she explained.
Cheek to Cheek will be released on September 22 and will feature the pair singing jazz standards including “It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing),” “Sophisticated Lady,” “Lush Life” and more.
