Dua Lipa, Ciara, Missy Elliott added to American Music Awards lineup

Dua Lipa, Missy Elliott, and Ciara have joined an already packed list of performers for this year’s American Music Awards. On Friday (Sept. 28), Dick Clark Productions and ABC formally announced the latest additions to their top 20 radio-centric awards show roster. First-time nominee Lipa will perform her self-titled debut’s latest single “Electricity” while Elliott will reportedly join Ciara for a performance of their joint track, “Level Up.”

Ciara will also reportedly perform “Dose,” the latest single from her upcoming studio album. This year’s performance marks her long-awaited return to the AMA stage; Ciara’s last AMA performance was in 2005.

In addition to the newly added trio, Cardi B., Bad Bunny, J. Balvin, Mariah Carey, Benny Blanco, Halsey, Khalid, Post Malone, Ty Dolla $ign, and Carrie Underwood will also take the stage to perform during the multi-hour show.

Earlier this week, show organizers confirmed plans for a massive performance to honor the late Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. Gladys Knight will reportedly lead the tribute which will also feature Ledisi, Mary Mary, Donnie McClurkin, CeCe Winans, and musical director Rickey Minor. The performance will primarily focus on the late singer’s gospel roots and her 1972 album, Amazing Grace.

The 2018 American Music Awards will be hosted by blackish star Tracee Ellis Ross and will air live on Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.

American Music Awards 2015 Update Performers List

The American Music Awards are just a couple of weeks away from broadcasting live from Los Angeles, and now the people behind the annual awards show have unveiled the rest of the performers. Previously, it was announced that acts like 5 Seconds of Summer, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas, and Carrie Underwood would hit the stage during the yearly music awards show. On Wednesday (Nov. 11), the rest of the performance lineup was unveiled.

Coldplay, Gwen Stefani, and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have now been added to the already full list. Coldplay will reportedly perform their new single, “Adventure of a Lifetime” for the first time on live United States television. Last Friday (Nov. 6), the group debuted the song live on TFI Friday, a United Kingdom-based television program.

Also rounding out the heavy list is Gwen Stefani, who will reportedly perform her own new single, “Used to Love You” and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, who will debut their own brand new song during the show. As of now, there has been no indication on what the name of the new song is.

The American Music Awards is schedule to broadcast live from Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater on Nov. 22. For those watching from home, the show will be broadcast on ABC. Jennifer Lopez will play double duty for the evening, both hosting and performing on the show.

On Tuesday morning (Oct. 13), DNCE’s Joe Jonas and Charlie Puth of “See You Again” fame, made the official announcement during Good Morning America. Leading the pack with a total of six nominations is Taylor Swift who’s nominated categories include “Song of the Year” for “Blank Space” and “Favorite Pop/Rock Album” for 1989. As of now, Swift has won a total of 16 AMAs, but if she wins all six of the categories she’s been nominated for, she will sweep right past Whitney Houston’s history-making 21 wins.

Trailing behind Swift with a total of five nominations apiece is Swift’s “biffle,” Ed Sheeran and The Weeknd. American Music Awards Announced Performers

2011-american-music-awards-logo

The American Music Awards already announced the nominees for this year’s award show earlier this month, as well as the identity of this year’s host; once again Pitbull will hold down the fort as the MC of the evening, but the performers were left out.

Dick Clark Productions, who produce the award show, have revealed that Mary J. Blige as well as newcomers 5 Seconds of Summer and Sam Smith will take the stage at this year’s event due to take place next month.

All three recently added performers are also nominated for awards this year. Mary J. Blige is nominated in the “Favorite Female Artists- Soul/R&B” category while  Smith and the boys of 5SOS, both will go head to head in the “New Artists of the Year Award presented by Kohls” category.

Previously, Charli XCX was confirmed to perform at the AMAs when the initial nomination announcement was made a few weeks back. The British singer is also nominated for an award for her contribution on Iggy Azalea’s Summer staple, “Fancy.” Her breakout song “Boom Clap” was featured on The Fault in Our Stars soundtrack which also earned a nomination for “Top Soundtrack” though its got tough competition from the Frozen Soundtrack and Guardians of the Galaxy’s Awesome Mix.

The American Music Award will take place on Nov. 23 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles while the show will be broadcast live on ABC.

2013 American Music Award Winners

winners

The American Music Awards has now marked the beginning of award season especially for music and anything that is fans get the opportunity to vote on like the upcoming People’s Choice Awards.

The show was hosted by Mr. Worldwide himself, Pitbull, who did a pretty decent job for himself because let’s be honest, just because you’re a rapper doesn’t mean quit your day job to become an awards’ host. He also got the chance to hit the stage with our favorite dirty glittery singer, Ke$ha on their new song, “Timber.”

But with all the performance which included Katy Perry getting in touch with her inner Geisha in “Unconditionally,” Imagine Dragons literally banging out a combination of “Demons” and “Radioactive,” Lady Gaga and R. Kelly having a presidential affair with “Do What U Want” and many more, they did manage to give out several awards in the process.

More American Music Award Performers Announced

MTV EMA's 2013 - Show

The American Music Awards are scheduled to happen in less than two weeks, and now they have added a number of new artists to the already announced line up for performers. Previously, they had confirmed that Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Florida Georgia Line, Imagine Dragons, One Direction, Luke Bryan and Kendrick Lamar would be performing at the show and now we can add-on Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry and TLC.

Jennifer Lopez will take the stage to perform a tribute to late Cuban singer and music legend, Celia Cruz while Katy Perry will open the live show with her current single from her new album, “Unconditionally.” As for TLC, they are riding on the coattails of the recently release autobiography about their life and career. Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas will take the stage with a special guest; we’re feeling it might be Keke Palmer of Lil’ Mama who were in the autobiography.

The AMAs are one of the first award shows of the season and one of the only ones that allows the fans to choose who will go home as winners. Nominees for this year’s event include Macklemore and Ryan Lewis who are leading the path with six nominations for “Thrift Shop,” Justin Timberlake and Taylor Swift are tied with five nominations while Rihanna, Robin Thicke and Florida Georgia Line lag behind with four.

This year also marks the first year that fans could vote on Twitter.

The event will be hosted by Pitbull and will take place at the Nokia Theater in L.A. on Sunday, November 24, starting at 8 P.M. EST; the show will air live on ABC.
