Glastonbury 2015 Announce Complete 2015 Line-Up

When Glastonbury isn’t letting the selfie generation know that this festival is a “selfie stick optional” event, they are revealing the super long and jammed packed line-up for this year’s event.

Previously, festival organizers had revealed that acts likes Kanye West, Foo Fighters, The Who, Florence and the Machine, Pharrell Williams, Alt-J, Lionel Richie, Motorhead, Patti Smith, and many, many more would be making the trip to Pilton, Somerset (England) at the end of the month for the five-day music event.

With about three weeks left until gates open to let in all the musical craziness, organizers revealed the rest of the long list of acts.

Check out some of the new additions, and the official poster with the updated line-up, below.

New additions include: SBTRKT, Benjamin Booker, Jon Hopkins, Goat, Idris Elba, The Districts, Palma Violets, Frank Turner, Leon Bridges, Alvvays, Tricky, FFS (the joint project from Franz Ferdinand and Sparks), Mini Mansions, Shlomo, The Cribs, SOAK, Milky Chance, The Gaslamp Killer, Donovan, The Proclaimers, Nick Lowe, Burt Bacharach, and many more.

Russian band Pussy Riot will also appear at the event for a “live conversation” while Stephen Hawking and the Dali Lama will also make appearances.

Like the poster states, Glastonbury 2015 will take place from June 24-28.

2015 Austin City Limits Music Festival Line-Up Leaks

Well, the official line-up for this year’s Austin City Limits Festival has been revealed and lets just confirm that the vast majority of the line-up that was leaked on Sunday evening were in fact scheduled to appear at the festival with the exception of the Foo fighters actually performing on both weekends.

Check out the newly confirmed first wave of acts. According to reports, the next waves will come our way in September.

Weekend One: Foo Fighters, The Strokes, Drake, The Weeknd, Disclosure, Tame Impala, Alabama Shakes, Alt-J, The Decemberists, Chance the Rapper, ASAP Rocky, Billy Idol, Run the Jewels, TV on the Radio, Brandon Flowers, Brand New, Father John Misty, Kurt Vile and the Violators, Gary Clark Jr., Royal Blood, Jose Gonzalez, and Daughter, along with deadmau5, Bassnectar, Hozier, and Of Monsters and Men.

If Austin City Limits Music Festival was trying to keep their 2015 line-up a secret, then maybe they need to have a little conversation with their website person about letting the secret out of the bag two days before the official announcement was set to happen.

Last night (May 3), the line-up for both weekends of the music festival was leaked online, with the website’s link circulating the interweb. Quickly after the “mistake,” the post was taken down and now an “Oops, we’re not finding the page you’re looking for” message is appearing, but not before people took to the internet to spread the word and of course screen cap the information.

Sucks for them and their surprise, great for the people who were on the fence about going.

Weekend one will feature performances from: the Foo Fighters, The Strokes, Drake, The Weeknd, Disclosure, Tame Impala, Alabama Shakes, Alt-J, The Decemberists, Chance the Rapper, ASAP Rocky, Billy Idol, Run the Jewels, TV on the Radio, Brandon Flowers, Brand New, Father John Misty, Kurt Vile and the Violators, Gary Clark Jr., Royal Blood, Jose Gonzalez, and Daughter, along with deadmau5, Bassnectar, Hozier, and Of Monsters and Men.

Weekend two will have an almost exact line up except with a few changes. Instead of The Strokes, Modest Mouse will take their place and Florence and the Machine were added to the already packed line-up.

ACL 2015 weekend one will take place during Oct. 2-4 while weekend two will take place during the weekend of Oct. 9-11 at Zilker Park in Austin.

Reading and Leeds Unveil 60+ New Artists to 2015 Line-Up

Just when we though Reading and Leeds had finished unveiling their complete line-up for the 2015 incarnation of the yearly festival, organizers has officially given the completed line-up today.

Back in February when organizers released the flyer for the weekend-long event, a big chunk of the line-up had been revealed making some assume (like us) that those were all the people heading to the United Kingdom for the Bank Holiday. One thing that did not escape us were the two “special guest TBA” spots and the promise that a lot more acts would be added.

Now, those vacant spots have been revealed as well as over 60+ new acts that include Alt-J, Against Me!, The Gaslight Anthem, AWOLNATION, Modern Baseball, The Bots, Atreyu, PVRIS, and many more.

Reading and Leeds will take place during the weekend of August 28-30. Tickets are on sale, but if you haven’t already purchased them already, it might be a good idea to do so now or really soon.

KROQ Announces Line Up for 2014 Almost Acoustic Christmas

KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas concert is about to celebrate a milestone this year; its 25th anniversary.

So how else would you celebrate an anniversary that big than with a massive line-up of artists to take the stage at the yearly event.

The Los Angeles-based radio station announced earlier in the day their line-up which includes U2, System of a Down, the Smashing Pumpkins, Tears for Fears, Weezer, Modest Mouse, Interpol, Alt-J, and Incubus.

But, that’s not all. Linkin Park, Rise Against, Imagine Dragons, Fall Out Boy, Bush, Royal Blood, Vance Joy, and Walk the Moon will also take the stage during the two-day festival.

KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas will take place December 13-14 at the Forum in Inglewood, CA.

Tickets for the show are set to go on sale this Friday, Nov. 14 at Noon PT on Ticketmaster. Tickets for the show can set you back anywhere from $75-$150, but with all those performances, we’re pretty sure it will be money well spent.

Artist Come Together to Support ‘Music Without Barriers’

Going to concerts and seeing our favorite artists in the flesh is something that many, if not all, music fans live for. Sadly, not every music fans can make it to a show and completely relish in the moment because some are deaf or handicap. Though there has been many improvements to help include these normally isolated music fans, there is probably other things that can be done to help include them.

Now, some musicians are joining forces for a campaign to help improve gig access for deaf and disabled music fans.

The online campaign, “Music Without Barriers” is led by the charity, Attitude is  Everything which works to improve deaf and disabled people’s access to live music.

Their new mission is to get U.K. venues and festivals to join the 90-plus who already have, to become invested in the charity’s “Charter of Best Practice.”

The “Charter of Best Practice” encourages event producers to go beyond the basic legal requirements to ensure disabled access to gigs. They also yearn to promote four key principles: that improving access to gigs and festivals doesn’t have to be expensive; that there is a strong business case for improving access; that it’s vital deaf and disabled fans have access to information before events; and to lose the assumption that all disabled people are wheelchair users.

This new mission has gotten major support from some of music’s well-known artists such as The Cure’s Robert Smith, Franz Ferdinand’s Alex Kapranos, Alt-J, Frank Turner, Enter Shikari and many more.

Time to step up your game, USA.

Alt-J Go Acoustic

Never heard of Alt-J? Well that’s okay, because they are one of the bands you should keep your ears open to. The UK-based band have been having a year that most would hope and wish for. Their album, An Awesome Wave, was released just last year and already won a Mercury Award (think the British version of the Grammys) and have even embarked on sold out tour, topped the charts and even made it to super huge festivals Coachella, Bonnaroo and SXSW a few month back.

Today, the band have released an acoustic version of their song, “Bloodflood” which was originally a single of theirs from 2011. The original was heavier and creepier while this version takes it down a notch with its a capella use.
