Jimmy Eat World to Reissue Albums on Vinyl

Jimmy Eat World will be hitting a massive milestone in 2016; their debut album will officially turn 20 years old. In honor of the momentous occasion, the band have revealed that they will be reissuing several of their album on vinyl next month. The reissued vinyls will include: 1996’s Static Prevails; 1999’s Clarity; the album that arguably launched them into the mainstream, 2001’s Bleed American; and 2004’s Futures.

In addition to those four records, the band also revealed that their 2005, five-track EP, Stay on My Side Tonight will also get the vinyl treatment. The record was originally released in only digital format before they decided to release it on CD and now, vinyl. The EP features three new songs as well as a remixed version of “Drugs or Me” from Futures and a cover of Heatmiser’s “Half Right.”

All the reissues, with the exception of Bleed American and Stay on My Side Tonight, will be released as a double-LP. Bleed American is set to be released on Dec. 4 while Static Prevails, Clarity and Futures have a release date of Dec. 11. The Stay on My Side Tonight EP reissue will be released on Dec. 18.

Alkaline Trio Announce Special Mini Tour

image

Alkaline Trio have been quiet for sometime now, except for their appearances at Riot Fest earlier this year, so how else would you return to the forefront of fans’ minds than with a big and really cool announcement.

Today, the Illinois-based band announced that they will be going out on a very short tour where they will play all eight of their albums over a four night span, in eight different cities.

Confused? Well, don’t be.

Alkaline Trio will spend four days in one city where each night they will perform two of their albums in full.

If you’re still confused about it, just check out the flyer for the event below which also displays the cities they will be performing at as well as the dates.

Alkaline Trio’s most recent release was actually a twofer. The band released two albums on the same day in 2012; one titled My Shame is True and another, an EP, titled Broken Wing.

Prince to Return with Two New Albums

prince-purple-rain

The purple one is making a comeback!

That’s right, Prince has announced that he will be returning to the music world with not one, but two new albums. The albums will be the highly anticipated Art Official Age and Plectrumelectrum. Art Official Age will be Prince’s solo album, while Plectrumelectrum will be from his new band, 3RDEYEGIRL.

“Prince is one of just a handful of visionary artists who have truly reshaped and redefined modern music and culture,” said Warner Bros. Records Chairman & CEO Cameron Strang.

“For the past 35 years, he has never stopped evolving, challenging himself, reinventing his sound, and pushing boundaries. In true Prince fashion, he has just given us not one, but two extraordinary albums that express the incredible range and depth of his talent. All of us at WBR are immensely proud to be working with Prince to bring this brilliant new music to his legions of fans around the world, and needless to say we are thrilled to be working in partnership with him again.”
Both record are set to be released on September 30, but don’t expect it to be a joint record; the albums will be sold separately. Currently, both of them are available for pre-orders through digital retailers as well as Prince’s official website.

For those wanting to purchase the records early, the singer has revealed that fans will be able to unlock “instant grat” tracks from each record.

And that’s not even the end of the gift that is Prince. According to sources, the album releases will be marked by a series of “very special events” taking place globally. As of now, there has been no confirmation as to what exactly that means, but a confirmation should be set for soon.

First Round of Record Store Day Treasure

recordstoreday2014

Do you hear that? It is the sweet sound of all the artists and record stores coming together to help put together the list of all the goods that will be coming our way for Record Store Day.

The yearly, unofficial Christmas for music lovers all over the country is set to take place on April 16. We have obtained some of the releases for this year’s event thanks in part to Property of Zack and Wax Poetic.

Like last year’s list, this one is quite long and we aren’t even sure if this is all of it. This year’s list does include the likes of Green Day, Paramore, Bruce Springsteen, Death Cab for Cutie, Nirvana and many, many more.

A Panic! at the Disco Musical in the Works?

panic-at-the-disco

If you ever thought that A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out would make a killer musical then you weren’t alone.

Recently, it was revealed that there might be a Panic! at the Disco influenced musical in the works. According to sources, the musical would not only feature songs from their hit debut album, but from all their album (yes, even the unfortunate Vices & Virtue).

The synopsis of the story is the following:

“PANIC! is a rough-edged new musical based on the songs of the American rock band Panic! At The Disco. PANIC! The Musical tells the story of Andi Witko, a naive teenager on the verge of rebellion after meeting bad boy Oliver Murphy. The musical features songs from all four studio albums, including hits such as: “I Write Sins, Not Tragedies,” “Lying is the Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off,” “Ready to Go,” “This Is Gospel,” etc.

PANIC! will be directed by Alexis Acar, with choreography by Evan Lovelace featuring arrangements and musical direction by Brandon Austin and Craig Petrocelli”

At the moment, it seems that no one associated with the band have commented about this potential musical. If it is to go forward then there is a change that we will be hearing more about it in the near future; until then, we just wait.

As for Panic!, they are currently scheduled to perform on FOX’s New Year’s Eve Live with Mario Lopez as the host while Brendon Urie had the honor to perform in honor of Billy Joel the piano man’s hit song, “Big Shot” at The Kennedy Center Honors this past weekend. As for the near future, the band is slated to begin touring in support of their recent release, Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die in the new year.

So tell us, Panic! at the Disco musical? Yay or nay?
