Lil Dicky enlist Brendon Urie, Charlie Puth, Katy Perry, and more for ‘Earth’

When Lil Dicky claimed he had recruited a slew of big-name artists for his new song, he wasn’t kidding. On Friday (April 19), the Philadelphia-born rapper shared the music video for his environment-inspired new track, “Earth.”

The seven-minute music video begins with footage of a city with smog from cars clogging the air, giving the scenery an orangey hue. The clip shifts to a group of kids hanging out and causing mayhem in their path. As they joke around, they knock over a trash can, allowing the content to litter the floor. As they go to leave, Lil Dicky passes by and tells them to clean up the trash.

After changing some choice words, the kids take their leave, but one decides to stay behind and pick up the trash. While picking up the garbage, the kid finds a book laying there. He picks it up and takes a look inside. When he does, it transports the viewer into an animated world where all the cartoon animals (or plants) in the jungle are voiced by the musicians the rapper enlisted.

The song features Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Halsey, Zac Brown, Brendon Urie, Hailee Steinfeld, Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, Kevin Hart, Adam Levine, Shawn Mendes, Charlie Puth, Sia, Miley Cyrus, Lil Jon, Rita Ora, Miguel, Katy Perry, Lil Yachty, Ed Sheeran, Meghan Trainor, Joel Embiid, Tory Lanez, John Legend, Bad Bunny, Psy, Kris Wu, Backstreet Boys, and Leonardo DiCaprio.

The video concludes with Lil Dicky encouraging the viewer to “look into whatever the f*** Leonardo DiCaprio is always pushing” because if anyone knows about climate change, it would be him.

“Earth” is currently available for purchase here.

In conjunction with the song’s release, the Lil Dicky launched a website to give fans more information about climate change and the different ways they can do their part to help. The profits generated from “Earth” streams and views will be donated to select groups of nonprofits that tackle issues like climate change, the energy crisis, and sustainable farming. Maroon 5’s “Heart is Open” with Gwen Stefani

Gwen Stefani hasn’t even made her official debut as one of the new judges on this season of The Voice, but she might have a little more experience than the other judges since you know she’s had a killer career as a frontwoman and a solo artists (among other things).

Today, a new song featuring her and fellow judge Adam Levine and his band, Maroon 5, has surfaced.

The piano-driven song is titled “My Heart is Open” and will be featured on Maroon 5’s upcoming album V. The song is already shaping up to be an instant hit not only because of Stefani and Levine, but because it was penned by super-songwriter Sia.

Whatever our favorite bleach-blonde songwriter touches often turns to gold.
Check out the audio of the track below.

It’s been months since Stefani was confirmed to be taking over the red spinning chair which only happened after days of the internet claiming it would happen. The No Doubt frontwoman finally confirmed the rumors through Instagram with a photo of her hand holding a microphone and doing the “V” logo. Like the internet had claimed, Stefani would be taking over for Christina Aguilera, who would not be able to judge this season due to her second pregnancy.

This season marks the debut of not only Stefani, but Pharrell Williams who will be filling in the slot that normally would have been taken by Cee Lo Green and his car Purrfect. The larger than life performer, and his feline, had announced he would be leaving the show, for good, for something else. Returning once again to the show as judges this season are the bro-mancers, Levine and country singer Blake Shelton.

The Voice’s new season is slated to return sometime this upcoming Fall season. No specific return date has been given.

The Voice is known for bringing in well-known artists to come in and mentor the contestants before they hit the stage to sing for the world on behalf of their mentors.

In the past we have had Green Day frontman, Billie Joe Armstrong, Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin, Jennifer Hudson, and several more.
In the last few months, it was revealed that Ed Sheeran and Cher would be making a guest-appearances on the show as mentors to the contestants this upcoming season.

Today, another iconic singer has been added to the list; Stevie Nicks.

The Fleetwood Mac frontwoman was confirmed for a guest-appearance which coincidentally comes on the heels of Fleetwood Mac announcing that they will be hitting the touring circuit later this year (September 30 in Minneapolis to be exact).

Nicks will be acting as an “adviser” to Team Adam Levine during NBC’s hit show’s seventh season. Nicks has reportedly been working with Levine and his 12 team members as they assign songs and rehearse with the contestants as they prepare for the battle rounds.

This upcoming season also brings in a breath of fresh air as two new judges take their place on the spinning, red chair. Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams will be taking the place of Shakira and Usher/ Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green.

The Voice is slated to return to its scheduled time on September 22. the network also revealed that they would be revealing more “advisers” for the upcoming season soon.

Pharrell Added to ‘The Voice’ for Seventh Season

Ever since Cee Lo Green announced that he would not be returning to NBC’s hit singing reality show, the question had become who wold fill his big red chair. Today, the answer was given and fans can expect to go from one form of over-the-top costume to another.

Pharrell Williams has been chosen to take over the turning chair alongside Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton for season seven of the television series.

“Okay, we can OFFICIALLY say it! WE ARE SO  to announce PHARRELL WILLIAMS =  for SEASON 7,” The Voice’s official Twitter posted earlier in the day.

After the news had broken, the super-producer took to his Twitter account to confirm that he would be joining with, “This is going to be so fun.”

Fellow judge Adam Levine also tweeted about the new casting with a simple, “Welcome to the circus dude!”

“It’s been a huge year for Pharrell, with recognition for his contribution in the world of music — the Despicable Me franchise soundtracks, his Oscar-nominated song ‘Happy’ and his Grammy-winning collaboration with Daft Punk on the breakout dance hit ‘Get Lucky.’ His dominance in record sales in 2014, coupled with his incomparable accomplishments in the world of fashion and design, make him an irresistible addition to The Voice family,” NBC boss Paul Telegdy said in a statement.

“He has already made a considerable impact as a mentor, drawing on an impressive track record as both a producer and performer. It is a perfect fit for The Voice as we evolve and reach for new heights with this franchise. It feels like we are welcoming an existing family member home.”

The Voice’s executive producer Mark Burnett added, “I am thrilled to have Pharrell come back to The Voice family, and this time…as a coach. Continuing in The Voice tradition of having the biggest and most current music stars as coaches, Pharrell fits perfectly.”

Let all the “Happy” jokes begin. What do you think about the addition of Pharrell (and probably his Smokey the Bear hat) to the show?
