Listen: Coldplay gets ‘Hypnotised’ with new song

Coldplay may have warned fans a few years back that their seventh studio album, A Head Full of Dreams, may be their final, but it doesn’t look like the group is going to let that warning come to life any time soon. On Thursday (March 2), the British band celebrated vocalist Chris Martin’s 40th birthday by releasing another new song from their upcoming Kaleidoscope EP. The new track is titled “Hypnotised.” The six-minute, Mary Wigmore-directed lyric video is beautiful and matches the mellowness of the new track. Watch the lyric video for the new song above.

“Hypnotised” marks the second “single” from the band’s upcoming EP. Earlier this week, they debuted another song titled “Something Just Like This” which features EDM-superstars, The Chainsmokers. “Hypnotised” and “Something Just Like This” are two of the five tracks featured on Kaleidoscope which is set to hit stores on June 2 through Parlophone Records. Kaleidoscope  will reportedly be the sister release to A Head Full of Dreams.

In support of the new EP, the band is currently in the middle of their lengthy “A Head Full of Dreams” world tour. Earlier this week, it was announced that the four-piece would be one of four acts set to hit the stage for the inaugural Global Citizen Festival Hamburg. Coldplay will join the Chainsmokers, Ellie Goulding, and Herbert Grönemeyer on the bill for the one-day event set to take place on July 6. Coldplay Release ‘Artsy’ Video for “Birds”

image

Coldplay has kicked off the new year with a music video for one of their newest songs. On Monday (Jan. 4), the United Kingdom-based band released the music video for their latest single, “Birds.” The music video was shot by Marcus Haney (that dude who sneaked into 50 music festivals and filmed it all). The clip supposedly chronicles the band’s trip to California’s Salvation Mountain with Haney. In a mass email sent to their fans, the band confirmed this information.

“Happy new year, everyone. Here’s the video for Birds, filmed on our trip to Salvation Mountain with Marcus Haney. Have a fantastic 2016, love c, g, j, w + p,” said the email.

We kind of do see their chronicled adventure, at least the desert trip part. In our opinion, it may be a little too artsy for us with the clips shot in a way that it looks as if it might have been part of some cheesy 80s film or the continuous use of kaleidoscope effects. At the end of the day, the only opinion that matters is that of the band. Check out the music video for “Birds” below.

“Birds” is featured on Coldplay’s recently released album, A Head Full of Dreams. The record, the band’s seventh and rumored final, was released back at the beginning of December.

Coldplay Release Beyoncé Featured Song

With a few days left until the release of their seventh studio album, Coldplay has released another song off the new record. On Monday (Nov. 30), the group debuted their third song off of A Head Full of Dreams. The new track is titled “Hymn for the Weekend” and made its official debut during Annie Mac’s BBC Radio show, yesterday afternoon.

If the title of the song sticks out to you, it’s because it’s the song that features Beyoncé. Last week, the United Kingdom-based band posted snippets of all their new songs on Instagram while also revealing which were the ones to feature guest stars. Coldplay had previously confirmed that “Hymn for the Weekend” was the track that the pop star lent her vocals to.

After the song made its world premiere, bassist Guy Berryman called into the show to speak about the song. As it turns out, frontman Chris Martin wanted the song to be a “party jam.” Instead, things changed, as did the story behind the song. “Then the whole story changed and then he asked Beyoncé to sing on it, and she very kindly said she would.”

Check out the song here.

The premiere of “Hymn for the Weekend” comes a few days after another new song from the album was released. During the weekend, Coldplay released the song “Everglow” which feature vocals from Martin’s ex-wife/actress Gwynth Paltrow.

Before that, the band released lead single “Adventure of a Lifetime” as well as its music video which features monkey versions of the band members performing the song. A Head Full of Dreams is set to be released this Friday, Dec. 4.

Coldplay Monkey Around in “Adventure of a Lifetime”

If anyone watched Coldplay’s performance of “Adventure of a Lifetime” last Sunday (Nov. 22), during the American Music Awards, then they were probably wondering why there were a bunch of people dressed up as apes. As it turns out, there was more to the story than that the band wanted some people dressed as apes on the stage. Instead, it looks like they were pay homage to the official music video for the new track.

On Friday (Nov. 27), the London-based band released the official music video for “Adventure of a Lifetime,” the lead single off of their impending record, A Head Full of Dreams. Instead of the band being featured in the video, CGI ape versions of them took the task of performing the song. Yeah, we know, it sounds a little weird to us too.

Anyway, check out the music video for “Adventure of a Lifetime” below.

“Adventure of a Lifetime” is the first single off of  Coldplay’s seventh studio album, A Head Full of Dreams. A Head Full of Dreams is set to be released next Friday, Dec. 4. through Parlophone UK. As it was previous reported, and later confirmed when they posted snippets of songs on Instagram, the new record will feature several guest vocalists. Featured guest artists include Beyoncé, Noel Gallagher, and Tove Lo as well as frontman Chris Martin’s ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow and even a spoken word dialogue from President Obama.

Interesting mash-up to say the least. A Head Full of Dreams is the follow-up to Coldplay’s somber album, 2014’s Ghost Stories.

Coldplay Release Snippets of New Album on Instagram

image

With a week left until the release of their new album, Coldplay are giving fans a little bit of something to hold them through the holiday season and into next week. On Tuesday (Nov. 24), the band began to post what appeared to be snippets of new songs on photo-sharing social media site, Instagram. Along with the short audio, they also tagged the track number, the official title of the track, the name of the album, the band’s name, and “ten days until AHFOD.”

It appears as if the band will continue this trend of posting snippets for the rest of the night, though if the pattern continues, it will happen every hour, on the hour. In that case we might have to continue updating this throughout the day. Until then, check out the already posted snippets below.

Coldplay Perform “Adventure of a Lifetime” Live

image

A couple of hours after they unveiled their brand new single, “Adventure of a Lifetime,” Coldplay hit the live television show circuit to debut it. On Friday morning (Nov. 6), the United Kingdom-based band released the lead single off of A Head Full of Dreams and almost immediately headed to UK television show TGI Friday, to perform it life. Watch the performance of the new song below, but be warned, it looks like the performance was recored on someone’s phone from the television (or computer) screen.

A Head Full of Dreams is scheduled to be released on Friday, Dec. 4 through Parlophone/Atlantic Records. The new record which happens to be the group’s seventh studio album will reportedly feature artists like Noel Gallagher, Beyoncé, and Tove Lo. Since the confirmation of a new album was made at the end of 2014, frontman Chris Martin had teased that this would be the group’s swan song. As of now, there has been no mention whether or not it will, indeed, be the band’s last album.

A Head Full of Dreams is the follow-up to 2014’s Ghost Stories. In support of the new record, the band will reportedly hit the tour in 2016. Not tour dates have been mention but they did allude to it last week. Pre-orders for A Head Full of Dreams are currently available here digital media is sold as well as in the band’s website.

Coldplay Announce ‘A Head Full of Dreams’ Release

image

A year after teasing they would be releasing a new album which could be their last, Coldplay has confirmed the release of the new album. On Friday (Nov. 6), the United Kingdom-based band announced that their seventh studio record, A Head Full of Dreams, will be released worldwide on Friday, Dec. 4. In addition to the release date announcement, the band has also posted the first single off of it; a track titled “Adventure of a Life.”

Listen to the sunny new song, which debuted on BBC Radio 1 and 2 on Friday, below.

Back in 2014, frontman Chris Martin had hinted that A Head Full of Dreams might just be the band’s final album. “It’s our seventh thing, and the way we look at it, it’s like the last Harry Potter book or something like that,” he explained to Zane Lowe at the time.

As for the recording process of the record, it appears that they headed directly to the recording studio after their last album, 2014’s Ghost Stories was released. That would explain why the tour circuit for that album only feature a few stops at very intimate venues. Unlike their last release, they also revealed that the sound will be a lot different. While Ghost Stories was melancholy in sound, A Head Full of Dream will be “more colorful, more joyful.”

“It’s the sound of us being free and happy and very grateful to be in our group,” Martin explained to radio show host Nick Grimshaw.

And if a sunnier sound wasn’t enough, the band announce the record will feature several guest vocalists. Artists like Beyoncé, Noel Gallagher, and Tove Lo will reportedly be featured on the album. Like with any artist who just released a new record, the band is planning to hit the road in 2016 in support of A Head Full of Dreams.

Pre-orders are currently available on iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, and on their own website.

Coldplay Unleash Some “Miracles” with New Song

image

Coldplay might have broken fans’ hearts when frontman Chris Martin said in a recent interview that their upcoming new album might be their last.

But since the record only has a title as of now and no official release date, fans shouldn’t be so heartbroken yet especially when the band has released a brand new track; the first since last year’s Ghost Stories LP.

Today, Coldplay released a new song titled “Miracles” which will be featured in Angelina Jolie’s upcoming directorial debut, Unbroken. No word yet on whether this new song will also be featured on A Head Full of Dreams.

Listen to the song below.

Unbroken marks the first film that Jolie has taken the behind-the-camera position rather than in front of it. The film tells the story of Louis Zamperini, an Olympic runner who was taken prisoner by Japanese forces during world War II; it is set to be released on Christmas Day.

As for the film’s soundtrack, it will be released on Dec. 15 through Atlantic Records.

Coldplay’s New Album Might Be Their Last

Good news, Coldplay fans; the band will be releasing a new album.

But sadly, the good news also comes with some bad news; it might be the band’s last record, at least according to frontman Chris Martin.

Martin was on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show earlier in the day to celebrate the band’s song, “Magic” from Ghost Stories, being named the “Hottest Record of the Year.”

While on the show, Martin revealed that less than a year after releasing Ghost Stories (which was released earlier this year), the band had headed into the studio to record some new music. What came from that recording session would become their seventh album which at present time is tentatively titled, A Head Full of Dreams.

While discussing the record, Martin compared A Head Full of Dreams to the final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, giving the impression that this might be the band;s final record.

“It’s our seventh thing, and the way we look at it, it’s like the last Harry Potter book or something like that. Not to say that there might not be another thing one day, but this is the completion of something,” said Martin.

He added, “I have to think of it as the final thing we’re doing. Otherwise we wouldn’t put everything into it.”

Even if the seventh album does become their last, one thing Martin has promised fans is that they will be heading out on tour in support of the record which we can assume will not be like the Ghost Stories tour which only included six stops, worldwide.

Check out the full interview below or skip to the 3:15 mark where they start speaking about the new record.
