We’re sure everyone has been there before; the plane you were supposed to be on to go somewhere is delayed for hours. So, you’re stuck in a fluorescently lit airport with nothing to do for hours until you’re finally able to board the plane.
What a nightmare.
Well, for those stranded at New York’s LaGuardia Airport after a storm delayed flights for six hours this past Sunday, they were given a special show thanks to another group of people also stranded; the casts of Broadway’s The Lion King and Aladdin.
To lift the saggy morale, both groups performed a capella versions of their opening songs; “The Circle of Life” for the cast of The Lion King and “Arabian Nights” for the cast of Aladdin.
One of the coolest parts was watching Tony award winner James Monroe Iglehart (who plays Genie in the Aladdin production) just freestyle right in the middle of the airport.
This isn’t the first time the cast of The Lion King has done a stunt like that. Last August, they surprised New York subway riders by staging a flash mob where they performed “The Circle of Life.”
This past March, the Dropkick Murphys pulled similar stunt when they gave unfortunate passengers an impromptu show while waiting for their own flight to Dublin.
