Listen: Saves the Day unleash new single ‘Kerouac & Cassady’

Saves the Day have returned with another new song from their upcoming new album. On Wednesday (Sept. 26), the New Jersey-founded band unleashed “Kerouac & Cassady”; the second single off their ninth studio album 9. Listen to the rocking new track above.

“Kerouac & Cassady” will join previously released track “Rendezvous” on the band’s forthcoming record. 9 is due out Oct. 26 through Equal Vision Records. Pre-orders for the album are currently available on the band’s website. 9 is the long-awaited follow-up to the band’s 2013 self-titled release.

Back in August, frontman Chris Conley released a letter to fans where he explains what helped shape the new album’s lyrical content and sound.

“This album is the story of Saves the Day and my own personal journey through life, which all unfolded as my relationship with music progressed,” begins Conley’s letter.

“I’ve gone through all the reflecting and growing and come to a place where I’m so grateful and so satisfied and living the life I want to live. I was just a kid that got lucky, and I got pulled into this amazing dream. And it’s still going”

In support of the album’s late October release date, Saves the Day previously announced a slew of tour dates for the month of November. Now, the Jersey punks have added even more dates to their tour itinerary. The second leg of their tour will being on Feb. 15, 2019 at the White Oak Music Hall in Houston and conclude less than a month later on March 8 at Saturn in Birmingham, Alabama.

Saves the Day announce new album, stream lead single

Five years after the release of their last studio album, Saves the Day have returned. On Tuesday (Aug. 14), the New Jersey-founded band announced the release of their ninth studio album. Fittingly titled 9, the nine-track record is due out Oct. 26 through Equal Vision Records. Pre-orders for 9 are currently available on Saves the Day’s website.

9 is the long-awaited follow-up to the band’s 2013 self-titled release.

To celebrate the new album announcement, the band unleashed the record’s first single; a track titled “Rendezvous.” Listen to the three-and-a-half-minute track above.

In an accompanying letter, frontman Chris Conley explains to fans what helped shape the new album and its songs.

“This album is the story of Saves the Day and my own personal journey through life, which all unfolded as my relationship with music progressed,” said Conley.

“I’ve gone through all the reflecting and growing and come to a place where I’m so grateful and so satisfied and living the life I want to live. I was just a kid that got lucky, and I got pulled into this amazing dream. And it’s still going.”

As if a brand new album and its lead single was not enough to satisfy longtime fans, the group also unveiled plans to hit the road throughout the month of November. The upcoming North American tour will begin on Nov. 1 at Headliners in Louisville and conclude on Nov. 20 at the Social in Orlando. Kevin Devine and An Horse will join Saves the Day during the fall time stops.

The band will also take part in Manchester Orchestra’s annual Thanksgiving celebration, The Stuffing. The Stuffing will take place on Nov. 21 at the Fox Theater Complex. Tickets for the upcoming tour dates can be found here while the complete tour itinerary can be found below.
