Vans Warped Tour launches at sea edition

What’s more fun than getting all your friends together to spend 12 hours in the heat as you watch some of your favorite bands perform 30 minute sets? How about doing the same exact thing, except on a boat in the middle of the ocean during the week of Halloween? On Wednesday (Dec. 7), Vans Warped Tour head-honcho Kevin Lyman announced the inaugural Warped Rewind at Sea cruise.

As the name implies, Warped Rewind at Sea takes all the things Warped Tour attendees love about the “punk-rock summer camp” and places them on a cruise ship. The event will be a “special experience for 2,300 Warped fans” which will include personal interactions with some of their favorite musicians.

The cruise, which will take place during the week of Oct. 28, 2017-Nov. 1, 2017 will include a four-night round-trip cruise from New Orleans to Cozumel, Mexico. During the four nights, the passengers will be treated to multiple performances by 3OH!3, Bowling for Soup, Cartel, Good Charlotte, Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Simple Plan, the Starting Line, and more to be announced at a later date.

The excursion will also feature DJs and comedians, much like Warped Tour on land, as well as a Q&A session with Lyman, activities and autograph sessions with the artists, “Emo Nite” parties, and more.

“Packing as much fun into a ship as we do into a parking lot seemed like a great challenge, and Sixthman has given us that opportunity,” said Lyman in a press release. “We are excited to finally bring Warped Tour to the sea and we hope you can join us.”

Tickets for Warped Rewind at Sea are currently available on the event’s website here. Watch the official announcement video below as you start planning how to shove all your black clothes and eyeliner into one huge luggage (spoiler: it’s hard).

3OH!3 announce new album, stream new single

3OH3

After much teasing on social media, 3OH!3 has officially announced that they will be releasing a new album this spring. On Thursday (March 3), the duo took to Facebook to do a livestream where the title of their upcoming record was revealed. The new album, which marks their fifth studio record, will be titled Night Sports and is set to be released on May 13 through Fueled by Ramen.

Night Sports marks the band’s first record to be released through Fueled by Ramen which they signed to at the beginning of 2016. Since their self-titled debut album, the duo have released their music exclusively through Photo Finish/Atlantic Records.

In addition to the title and release date, the band also released the music video for their new single, “Mad at You.” Back in December of 2015, the band released the track “My Dick” which was believed to be the lead single from the at-the-time-still-untitled-record. Soon after, it was confirmed that it would be the lead single for the unofficially announced album. Watch the music video for “Mad at You” below.

Night Sports marks the band’s first new set of songs since 2011’s Omens. Pre-orders for Night Sports are currently available on the band’s website as well as iTunes.

3OH!3 Bring Colorado to Miami

3OH3

The day may have started off  as nothing short of a monsoon, but as the day turned into night, the bubblegum colored sky would show no trace of the disaster that took place earlier in the day and all fear that a show would not happen that evening soon diminished as the purple and yellow stage lights went on.

The sound of the drums and guitars soon filled the air as the sky turned into a pitch black color. At first, it was assumed that local Miami-based band, Rezolution would be taking the stage, but the second that a guy in a gray wolf shirt with way too much energy and a microphone hit the stage, everyone knew that all doubts were gone and that the show was about to take place.

Taking the stage were none other than the court jesters of the music world, 3OH!3. With lyrics including “do the Helen Keller and talk with your hips” and “I’m gonna have a house party in my house,” you can rest assure that their show was going to be comical and full of innuendos, everything that just screams “frat boys!”

For those not familiar with the “electro-pop group” as Wikipedia labels them, they are known for their college freshman mentality and just the journey of having a good time. Their show was no different especially with the majority of the audience being college students also on a journey to have a good time.

Sean Forman, one-half of the group, was the first on stage, getting the crowd ready for a show that could make even the storm clouds from earlier disappear. Decked out in a dark hoodie and dark pants, Nathaniel Motte, the other half of the band, snuck in, barely getting a glimpse from the fans as he camouflaged with the background, but he didn’t stay that way for long. Stripping down to a Hawaii shirt that looked similar to the one that Rocko from Rocko’s Modern Life would wear, he eventually undressed to just a plain dark tank top considering the after storm humidity and heat.

The band kicked off their hour-long show with what at first sounded like a new track, but ending up being the song “Starstrukk” from their debut album, Want. The crowd could feel their powerful and excited energy as they performed other songs from Want which included “Rich Man” “Colorado Sunrise” and a medley that included, “PunkBitch” “Choke Chain” and “I’m Not Your Boyfriend, Baby.” Songs from the second album, Streets of Gold  also made the set list such as “My First Kiss” “Touching on My” and “Streets of Gold” while also incorporating  songs from their upcoming album, Omens including current single, “Back to Life” and “You’re Gonna Love This.”

Getting in touch with their inner college selves, they asked the crowd what they had planned for after the show. No definite answer was given since the crowd tried to answer at the same time, but it could be seen that they were hinting at wanting to go to a house party which segued to their song titled, “House Party.” As if that wasn’t enough, both men even went into the crowd at different times which got a lot of attention from the ladies.

As if the sea of red, green and blue glow sticks weren’t in full volume throughout the show, when they got to the last song of the evening, “Don’t Trust Me,” the level of enthusiasm went into an all time high with glowstick-stuffed beach ball being tossed in the area and the sight of foam glowsticks got even more pronounced. As the lights went out on stage, the only thing that could be seen from far was the united front of glowsticks glowing in a dark field.

3oh!3 Announce New Album Release Date

3oh3

It’s been a little under three years since Colorado’s 3oh!3 have released their last album, but now the band has announced that their new album, OMENS, will be hitting stores on June 18. For their hardcore fans, the boys announced that they could start putting in their pre-orders on 3oh!3 day, aka Sunday, March 3. As part of their special day, the band also said that they would be releasing the first single from the album, “Back to Life.”

As a way to keep it real with their fans, the band and their record label will be holding a fun 303 inspired activity list for fans. On Sunday, the band will post a list of activities and the fans will have to either photograph or film themselves doing these activities and post it on their website. Some include getting a dog to dance to a 3OH!3 song, have a pillow fight, have a staring contest or just tell your computer that you love it

In a recent interview with a radio station, Nathaniel Motte, told them that this will be the first album that it will just be them performing the songs. In the past, they’ve had guests like Katy Perry and Ke$ha on their tracks, but this time, they’re saying that it’s simply them on every track.
