UPDATE (02/12/14): This week, six bands were added to the Warped Tour line-up. Like reported earlier in the day, Yellowcard have been confirmed to be joining this year’s line-up as well as The Story This Far, We Are The In Crowd, Born Of Osiris, Echosmith, and Beebs And Her Money Makers.

The Vans Warped Tour has now gotten into the groove of revealing the bands that will be playing at the annual traveling festival on their Fuse show, Warped Roadies. Last year, was the first time that they attempted this type of reveal and it seems to have been a hit.

Since late last year, the show has been releasing the names of those that will be taking the stage at this year’s tour five at a time at the end of a new episode. The full list of the artists, up to this week’s episode, can be seen below.

What to Watch on New Years Eve

fireworks

Tonight at 12:01, we say goodbye to the year that was 2013 and hello to the blank page that is 2014.

While some of your friends and family might be hitting the party circuit to bring in the new year, some of us are going to take our annual spot on the couch and watch the ball drop on our televisions.

Since we’ll be staying in, take a look at some of the live events that will be playing on the telly with music, of course to bring in the new year.

NBC: New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly (From Time Square in New York)

This will mark the ninth time tat Daly has held down the fort as the host of the event. Co-hosted b Glee’s Jane Lynch and performances by Mariah Carey and Blake Shelton. Also making appearances at the event will be actor-comedians, Natasha Leggero and Anthony Anderson. After a half an hour break for the local news, the party continues with Daly and Lynch.

ABC: Dick Clark’s Primetime New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2014 (from Time Square in New York)

Taking over for the dearly departed Dick Clark, Ryan Seacrest will once again host the iconic countdown. This year, The View’s Jenny McCarthy is back to co-host the event. Performances include Jennifer Hudson, Miley Cyrus, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Icona Pop, Robin Thicke and more. After a half an hour break for the local news, the party continues with Billy Joel singing us into 2014.

FOX: New Year’s Eve Live (from the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada)

Unlike its many counterparts, Mario Lopez will host his way into 2014 in the shortest of the celebrations; just one hours. In that one hour though, the show will include performance from J. Cole, New Politics, Krewella and Panic! At the Disco.

CNN: New Year’s Eve With Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin

If sexual innuendos and laughing at crude things is your cup of tea, Kathy Griffin is back co-hosting with Anderson Cooper for the seventh year. While every year seems to out do the other in trying to embarrass our favorite Silver Fox, Cooper has definitely learned to deal with Griffin and her antic. But, it’s still fun to see her try.

The 2014 Oscars’ Best Original Song (Not So) Short List

AcademyAwards

Seventy-five.

Seventy-five is the amount of songs that have been nominated for the 2014 Academy Awards Best Original Song short list.

Songs that made the long list, which ironically is called the short list comes from several different film with, of course, different music styles, but with a killer soundtrack, nonetheless.

One of the songs to make the list is one that could be attributed to some foreshadowing. About a year ago, Paul McCartney said that there might be a Nirvana reunion with him taking the place of the late Kurt Cobain. That is exactly what happened during the 12-12-12: The Concert for Sandy Relief, when the former Beatle was back by Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, and honorary Nirvana member Pat Smear.

The song that they performed at the time “Cut Me Some Slack,” was just a treat, but it later turned out to be for Grohl’s Sound City: Real to Reel documentary film soundtrack.

Also making the not-so-short short list are many of the songs that were also nominated for the same award at the Golden globes. Those include Taylor Swift’s One Chance contribution, “Sweeter Than Fiction,” U2’s “Ordinary Love” which was featured on the Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom soundtrack and Coldplay’s “Atlas” from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Instead of going into detail about every song on the list, check them all out below, and believe us, it’s a pretty long list, so get your patience on.

The 86th Annual Academy Awards are scheduled for March 2.

Reading and Leeds Reveal Some Headlining Artists

readingleeds

Reading and Leeds might not be happening until August of next year, but the organizers behind the festival have already released one of the many artists that will be headlining the annual U.K. festival.

The first o the headliners to be revealed is none other than blink-182!

Yes, the California-based band are one of the many bands to be headlining the event. This news comes about a month after they had performed at not one, but two sold out shows at the Hollywood Palladium in support of the tenth anniversary of their Untitled album.

But blink-182 aren’t the only band that have been confirmed to be headlining; the organizers also revealed that Of Mice & Men!, Jake Bugg, Disclosure, Metronomy, Wilkinson and I Am Legion will also be headlining the bill.

“I’m stoked to play Reading & Leeds 2014. It’s our fourth time playing the festivals, and we’re very honored. The new year will see us in the studio preparing new music, getting ready to rock the fine people of the UK. Prepare for the fury,” explains bassist Mark Hoppus about being chosen for the yearly event.

The last time the band performed at Reading was in 2010 when and like the rumors that have been making their way through the grapevine, do expect a seventh album from the trio sometime next year, more specifically look towards the Summer, just in time for Reading and Leeds which takes place Aug. 22-24.

Riot Fest Announced 2014 Dates

riot

Wasn’t Riot Fest just a few weeks ago? Actually, it was more like a few months ago, but the feeling of seeing the complete awesome line-up and wishing to have the chance to go to Chicago and see it is still fresh in our minds and the people behind the event don’t want you to forget about them either.

Today, the dates for 2014’s festival have already been unveiled and that’s not all,the first batch of holiday pre-sale tickets went up earlier in the day, only to already be sold out. Talk about hardcore fans out there, but then again, it is the 10th anniversary of the concert tour and chances are that the line-up for that anniversary should kick 2013’s line-up out of the water.

The festival organizers took to their Facebook page to advise fans not to worry about not being able to get early bird tickets; there would be other opportunities for them to get them in the near future.

As for the dates for the event, only the dates for the Chicago shows have been announced which will be September 12-14. So far, no other word on whether they will be doing the other cities like they did this year.

Avenged Sevenfold Added to Download Festival

avenged-sevenfold-482x298

Summer has only been over for a little while, but it has already been confirmed that Avenged Sevenfold will be headlining next year’s Download Festival. The annual festival which takes place at Donington Park in the United Kingdom has already revealed that the festival is scheduled to take place during the weekend of June 13- June 15.

Organizers have revealed that the California-based band will be performing on the Friday of the event. Also joining Avenged Sevenfold on their scheduled day will be Rob Zombie.

While those two names have already been confirmed, event organizer Andy Copping said that he would love to secure a reunited Led Zeppelin, Van Halen and the original line-up of Guns N’ Roses as future headliners; so far, his wishes have not been answered.

This past year’s Download Festival on the other hand, had quite a line-up including the likes of Slipknot, Rammstein and Iron Maiden as headliners while 30 Seconds To Mars, Queens Of The Stone Age, Motorhead, Enter Shikari, A Day To Remember and Bullet For My Valentine were “supporting” acts.

As for Avenged Sevenfold, the band released their sixth studio album, Hail to the King this past August which made it to number one on the Billboard 200.

Beck to Return with New Album in 2014

beck

It’s been quite sometime since Beck has released new music, but now the singer is back.

Yesterday, it was revealed that the musicians would be coming out with a new album titled, Morning Phase. Not only did he revealed that the new album is due out in February 2014, but also that he has signed to Capitol Records. Previously, the singer had been signed to DGC Records.

The new album has been described as a companion album to 2002’s Sea Change and takes the listener “back to the stunning harmonies, song craft and staggering emotional impact of that record, while surging forward with infectious optimism.”

Many of the same musicians that played on the 2002 album and accompany Beck on tour will be returning for the album including Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Joey Waronker, Smokey Hormel, Roger Joseph Manning Jr., and Jason Falkner.

Modern Phase will be Beck’s first album of entirely new material since Modern Guilt in 2008, but while it might be his first new album, it doesn’t meant hat he hasn’t been keeping busy in the meantime. During the years following Modern Guilt, he has gone to produce albums Thurston Moore and Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, collaborated with artists like Charlotte Gainsbourg and even released a book titled  “Song Reader,” which features musical compositions in sheet-music form.

Talk about keeping busy.

The Return of Taste of Chaos?

TheUsedGroupShot

Could it be true that the Taste of Chaos travelling show will be resurrected from the dead?

All signs are pointing that there might be a resurrection of the short-lived tour. Back in September, Kill the Music had claimed that Taking Back Sunday and The Used would be heading out on some kind of a tour. Flash forward to the end of October and it looks like the rumors might be true.

Now, Main Stage Productions, a website that informs talent buyers and college clubs hoping to host events about available tours, has updated their list to include a Taking Back Sunday/The Used package which says that they would be available to perform between March 15 to April 27.

While nowhere does it say that this listing is anyway related to the tour, coincidentally, the days listed on the site do happen to fall within the time frame that Taste of Chaos would typically occur.

Back in July, rumors started when The Used’s frontman, Bert McCracken  mentioned “I heard a big rumor that The Used is putting back together the Taste Of Chaos for springtime. Does that sound like a good time?”

Check out McCracken’s tease at the end of the video below.

Taste of Chaos began in 2005 with The Used and My Chemical Romance headlining, but in 2010, the tour ended its run with Disturbed on the bill.
