Last night Canada held their own version of every single music award that the United States has to offer, but with Canadian artists taking the lead in most of the award categories.
The Arcade Fire, who have had a fantastic year, went home with “Alternative Album of the Year” as well as “Album of the Year” for Reflektor and accepted their award via video from South America.
Tegan and Sara also came home winning after the stellar 2013 and beginning of 2014. The sister act went home with “Group Of The Year” for their catchy tune, “Closer.” The sister from Calgary accepted the award with a speech that thank everyone for letting “two queer kids from northeast Calgary” win the prize.
While most of the award show was all good, when Justin Bieber won his award for “Fan Choice” beating out Celine Dion, Drake and Michael Buble, the audience boo-ed him even though her wasn’t even present.
“Songwriter of the year” recipient Serena Ryan scolded the audience for booing the pop star though, some would wonder why she would do that, considering the way he has been acting as of lately and the way his fans are the bane of everyone’s existence.
