Bastille has a brand new song, and it looks like the band is beyond stoked to share it with their fans.
On Thursday (July 30), the British four-piece released their first new song in over a year.
Titled “What You Gonna Do?,” the barely two-and-a-half-minute tune finds Bastille doing what they do best; giving us a catchy bop that we would kill to hear at a summertime music festival (we can dream, right?).
Blur’s Graham Coxon plays guitar and provides vocals on the new tune while Smith and Mark Crew produced it.

“What You Gonna Do?” marks Bastille’s first new song since the release of their third studio album, Doom Days, in 2019.
“We finished the song, and it felt urgent. We didn’t want to sit on it,” frontman Dan Smith reveals about the surprise new track.
Not only were the band members excited to release the new tune, but it also looks like it’s the launching pad for their brand new era (and fourth studio album, we imagine).
“This next phase feels like a new beginning. It’s about completely tearing up our process, being spontaneous, and starting again.”
Smith also reveals that the group has more tunes up their sleeves and that they plan on releasing it little by little instead of waiting to drop a full, new album.
“We’re just really excited by the new songs. I think we’re making some of the best music we’ve ever made. We want to put it out there now and not wait for the whole album to be done before anyone starts to hear it. This is about where we are now and hearing us in real-time.”
