5 Seconds of Summer take it back to the beginning with ‘Old Me’

5 Seconds of Summer are taking all their fans back to the band’s inception, even if it is for a few minutes.

On Tuesday (March 10), the Australian band returned with the music video for their latest single, “Old Me.” Initially released late last month, the song is an ode to the band’s past selves who worked hard to get them where they currently are.

Sticking to the message of the song, the foursome released a four-minute clip to mirror that. The premise of the video is simple. The guys are riding in a desolate train as footage and photos of their younger selves (not really them until a certain point in the video) are inter-cut with the present versions of themselves.

Towards the end of the clip, real footage from the guys during their early and teen years are shown (footage you can probably find on YouTube). When the train finally arrives at the group’s final destination, it opens to reveal a festival stage with a massive audience all there to see 5 Seconds of Summer. That’s one way to celebrate your past.

Also, shout out to drummer Ashton Irwin, who just HAD to take off his shirt during the final seconds of the clip.

“Old Me” is the fourth single off 5 Seconds of Summer’s upcoming fourth studio effort, C.A.L.M. Previously released singles “Easier,” “No Shame,” and our personal favorite “Teeth” are also featured on the forthcoming 12-track album.

In support of the much-anticipated release, the foursome will hit the North American touring circuit in the late summer. The “No Shame” tour will find the quartet performing at venues across the continent in August and September.

The tour begins on August 12 at the Sports Palace in Mexico City and concludes on September 26 at the Concord Pavilion in Concord, California. The full list of tour dates can be found here.
