‘Everyone’s a star’ in Green Day’s music video for ‘Oh Yeah!’

Can you believe it’s been four months since Green Day announced a new studio album, a massive tour, and gave us a few new songs to jam out to?

Yeah, neither can we.

Now, the iconic pop-punkers are back to give us another new track from their impending record.

On Thursday (Jan. 16), the California rockers finally unleashed the music video for their latest single “Oh Yeah!” Clocking in at a little over three minutes, the clip primarily features people who are obsessed with their cell phone whether it’s driving and texting (frontman Billie Joe Armstrong becomes a victim of that), being on your phone while the television plays in the background (we’re guilty of that), or being in a bathroom and recording yourself, we can relate to some of these people on some level.

But the video is not just a social commentary on this obsession. We also see some other things happen like a guy cheating on his girlfriend via text, a couple getting their kink on, a bodybuilder oiling himself up, and the band playing different characters (Billie Joe is just a dude, Mike Dirnt is the worst security guard ever, and Tré Cool is Ron Burgundy).

Yeah, we’re just going to say that it’s a weird music video, but at this rate, do we really expect anything less from Green Day?

“Oh Yeah!” is the third single off the band’s (lucky) 13th studio effort. Father of All… has already produced two previous singles “Fire, Ready, Aim” and the album’s title track “Father of All…” The forthcoming release is due out Feb. 7 via the band’s longtime home of Reprise Warner.

Back in September, Green Day announced a massive summer 2020 tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer. Fittingly named the “Hella Mega Tour,” the lengthy outing will include shows in the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States, and Canada during the summer months of 2020.

The multi-country excursion kicks off on June 13 at La Defense Arena in Paris and concludes on Aug. 29 at the Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. The full tour itinerary can be found here.
