There’s no stopping Lizzo and we’re more than elated about that.
On Friday (July 26), the musician unleashed the music video for her latest single, and boppy as hell track, “Tempo.” The barely-three-minute clip features the singer and a slew of people hanging out in the parking lot of a diner named Lizzo’s Diner (because why the heck not).
Decked out in a blue sequins bikini, blue fur cape, bright red cowboy hat, and white boots, Lizzo gets down with the dancers surrounding her as they twerk and float their way through the clip.
Halfway through the song, Missy Elliot somehow emerges from under the hood of one of the cars stationed in the lot. As always, Missy is decked out in her iconic athletic wear jumpsuit with the world TEMPO scrawled across the jacket in red sequins.
All in all, the music video looks like the type of block party we want to attend. Check out the Andy Hines-directed clip above.
“Tempo” is featured on Lizzo’s massively successful Nice Life and Atlantic Records debut album, CUZ I LOVE YOU. While this album is her mainstream breakthrough, it’s actually the singer’s overall third studio effort.
“Tempo” joins hit songs “Juice,” “Like a Girl,” “Jerome,” and “Truth Hurts” on CUZ I LOVE YOU. The full-length was released in mid-April and peaked at the number six spot on the Billboard 200 charts and the top spot on the newly-launched Rolling Stone 200 chart.
This fall, Lizzo will hit the North American touring circuit once more for her CUZ I LOVE YOU TOO tour.
All tour dates have been classified as sold out resulting in two venues changes (Sept. 10 in Tampa and Sept. 19 in Toronto) and the addition of a second show at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco.
The new set of shows begin with a two-night engagement at the Fillmore in New Orleans (Sept. 7 and 8) and conclude with her newly added two-night stop at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco (Oct. 27 and 28). The full tour itinerary can be found here.
Lizzo’s already busy schedule keeps on getting busier. Earlier this month, she joined forces with Charli XCX for the latter’s new banger “Blame It on Your Love.” The song will appear on Charl XCX’s upcoming new album, Charli.
Because taking over the music world isn’t enough for a BAMF like Lizzo, she will make her acting debut in Jennifer Lopez’s upcoming film “Hustlers.” “Hustlers” hits theaters in September.
