Fitz and the Tantrums return with ‘I Just Wanna Shine’

If Fitz and the Tantrums keep treating fans to new songs before their new album drops in September, then there won’t be any songs left. On Monday (July 15), the Los Angeles-founded band unleashed another new track from their upcoming fourth studio album. Titled “I Just Wanna Shine,” the electro-pop act not only unveiled the new tune but also shared its corresponding music video.

The music video follows a teenager as she goes about her daily routine, though it seems to mirror “Groundhog Day” as we witness the same thing over and over again. We watch as she wakes up in the morning, gets ready for the day ahead of her, feeds her younger sibling, checks on her absentee guardian, and skateboards around town.

Every single day, she sets up shop in front of different storefronts to practice her breakdancing but gets kicked out of each of the locations. Not one to be deterred, she persists.

As the video gets close to the end, we watch as she discovers an abandoned building with an open door. She’s finally able to break the mundane cycle and practice without interruptions on the building’s rooftop, overlooking the city.

Fitz and the Tantrums recently announced that “I Just Wanna Shine” will be featured in Walmart’s official back-to-school campaign, so expect to hear the song everywhere from now through September.

“I Just Wanna Shine” joins “All the Feels,” “I Need Help!,” “Don’t Ever Let Em,” and current radio hit “123456″ on All the Feels. All the Feels is due out Sept. 20 through Elektra Records. Pre-orders are currently available for purchase on the band’s website.

All the Feels is the long-awaited follow-up to 2016’s Fitz and the Tantrums.

In support of the new album, Fitz and the Tantrums are currently on the road with Young the Giant on their massive co-headlining summer tour.

COIN and Alice Merton will open for the bands during the excursion. COIN will play the role of supporting act during the July shows while Alice Merton will play the role of supporting act during the August shows.

The tour will invade the Red Hat Amphitheater in Raleigh on Tuesday (July 16). The full list of tour dates can be found here.
