Pixies return with ‘On Graveyard Hill,’ announce their seventh studio album

You know how the Pixies have been randomly touring nonstop throughout the last couple of years? Well, now we see what they’ve been planning. On Monday (June 3), the Massachusetts-founded band confirmed the upcoming release of their seventh studio album. Titled Beneath the Eyrie, the forthcoming record is due out Sept. 13 via Infectious/BMG.

Pre-orders for the new record are currently available for purcahse on the band’s website. Beneath the Eyrie not only marks the long-awaited follow-up to 2016’s Head Carrier, but also the band’s second album to feature their current lineup of Black Francis (vocals/guitars), Joey Santiago (guitars), David Lovering (drums), and Paz Lenchantin (bass).

In addition to the latest announcement, the group also treated fans to the first single off the impending album. Listen to “On Graveyard Hill” above.

The new music revelation comes days after the band began teasing something big on their social media accounts. The posts featured images and nonsensical lines (one of which can be confirmed as a lyric from “On Graveyard Hill”), building up towards this big reveal.

In support of the release of Beneath the Eyrie, the group previously announced plans to embark on an extensive European tour this fall. Before crossing the pond in early September, the Pixies will headline the Cure’s inaugural Pasadena Daydream Festival on Aug. 31 in Pasadena, California.

Earlier this spring, the Pixies joined forces with Weezer once again for a huge North American co-headlining tour. The trek wrapped up in April.
