Charli XCX, Diplo, and Herve Pagez reimagine the Spice Girls in ‘Spicy’

Fresh off the success of her joint track with Lizzo, Charli XCX is back with another massive collaboration. On Thursday (May 30), the pop star, along with Diplo and Herve Pagez, released their summer-ready collaboration, “Spicy.” If the track sounds familiar, that’s because it’s a reimagined version of the Spice Girls’ 1996 smash single, “Wannabe.”

In addition to the track, the trio also unleashed the song’s insane, neon-colored, 90s space video game-inspired music video. Yes, there are even dancing and guitar-playing dolphins. The two-and-a-half-minute clip was directed by Reed + Rader. Watch “Spicy” above.

Charli XCX is going to have a busy summer with a slew of previously confirmed shows. The artist will hit the stage at New York’s Governors Ball Music Festival (June 2), co-headline Los Angeles’ Go West Fest with Troye Sivan (June 6), and take over the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago (July 21). After that, she’ll head across the pond for Radio 1 Big Weekend in Newcastle and Primavera Sound in Barcelona.

As for Diplo, the DJ just released a brand new promotional video for his upcoming Super Mega Ultra Giant Mad Decent Block Party Festival. Watch the clip featuring Julian Edelman of the New England Patriots here.

In April, Diplo announced he had joined forces with Synergy Global Entertainment (SGE) to launch the newest addition to his famed Mad Decent Block Party series.

The Super Mega Ultra Giant Mad Decent Block Party Festival will invade the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts during the weekend of July 20-21.

Billie Ellish, Major Lazer, G-Eazy, Miguel, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Dillon Francis, Kodak Black, Quinn XCII, Rezz, RL Grime, Zeds Dead, Flosstradamus, Pusha T, and more are set to perform during the inaugural event. The two-day fest will also include the world’s largest bounce house, go-kart racing courtesy of K1 Speed, and paintball.
