Bastille to release ‘Doom Days’ in June, share new single

Bastille and Marshmello’s “Happier” may be on a constant loop on your local radio station, but now it looks like the band is ready to change their tune. On Thursday (May 2), the British act announced plans to release their third studio album later this summer. Titled Doom Days, the album is due out June 14 via Virgin Records.

Pre-orders for Doom Days are currently available for purchase on the band’s website. Doom Days is the follow-up to Bastille’s 2016 studio effort, Wild World.

“Our third album ‘DOOM DAYS’ will be released on 14th June. We can’t wait for you lot to hear it,” frontman Dan Smith posted on Twitter.

In conjunction with the new album announcement, the band headed over to BBC Radio 1 to debut the record’s latest single, “Joy.”

“Joy is the moment at the end, almost that moment of redemption when you wake up on the kitchen floor and all of the anxieties come flooding in,” Smith explains about the new track.

“Something as simple as a call or a message from somebody can bring you back at that moment and rip the piss out of you, make you feel ridiculous for the state you were in.”

Keyboardist Kyle Simmons adds: “It’s the song that’s most obviously influenced by our re-orchestrated tour. The gospel singers are over the entire track. It’s crazy and to have it as the second most important on the track, that’s something we wouldn’t have done before,

“It’s also a relatively happy song, the first in all the albums which is vaguely positive!”

As if a brand new album and song weren’t enough, the group also unveiled a slew of North American tour dates to celebrate the album’s release. The trek will find the band performing at venues across the continent during September and October.

Bastille’s upcoming tour begins on Sept. 16 at the Met in Philadelphia and concludes a month and a half later on Oct. 29 at the Pepsi Center in Mexico City.

Every ticket purchase for the tour will include a physical copy of Doom Days. Pre-sale tickets for the upcoming excursion go on sale this Friday, May 3, at 10 a.m. local time. The band will post the pre-sale code on their Instagram Stories the morning of the launch.

General tickets go on sale next Friday, May 10, at 10 a.m. local time.
