Angels and Airwaves announce their first tour in seven years, share new song

We all know Tom DeLonge has been a little busy the last couple of years between chasing aliens and writing his own books, it’s surprising that he had any time for his band Angels and Airwaves. Three years after their last release, it looks like he’s ready to get the band back together. On Tuesday (April 30), the supergroup released their first new song in years; a track titled “Rebel Girl.”

“‘Rebel Girl’ is a space-age love song that combines my enduring obsession for new wave, pop-punk, and anthemic rock and roll music,” says DeLonge in a statement.

“As some of you might’ve heard, I recently took a brief minute to start up an aerospace company, so you never know – I may play this song from a satellite deep in space, beamed toward everyone’s house viciously on repeat.”

As if the new song and the rumor of a new album and film project weren’t enough, DeLonge also announced that the group will embark on their first headlining tour in seven years. The upcoming United States-centric excursion will find the newly reunited group performing in major cities including Austin, Dallas, Orlando, Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Seattle, and more.

The 23-stop outing begins on Sept. 4 at the Marquee Theatre in Phoenix and concludes a month later on Oct. 5 at the House of Blues in San Diego. Pre-sale tickets are currently available for purchase here. General ticket sales begin this Friday, May 3, at noon local time.

“Rebel Girl” will reportedly be featured on the band’s upcoming new studio album though no title or projected release date was given. Angels and Airwaves’ last studio album was 2014’s The Dream Walker though they did release two EPs (2015’s …Of Nightmares and 2016’s Chasing Shadows) after that.
