With a month left until the release of their brand new album, Marianas Trench has returned with the perfect gift for their longtime fans; a brand new song. On Friday (Feb. 1), the Vancouver-founded band unleashed the second single from their forthcoming fifth studio album, Phantoms.
Titled “Only the Lonely Survive,” the pessimistic outlook at a relationship is masked behind a poppy tune that almost makes you forget that the song features lyrics like “a love like this will end in tragedy” and “I know we won’t get out alive.”

“Only the Lonely Survive” joins the act’s previous release and lead single “I Knew You When” on their upcoming album Phantoms. Phantoms —the act’s fifth studio effort— is due out March 1 via 604 Records. Pre-orders are available here.
Phantoms is the follow-up to the quartet’s 2015 release, Astoria.
Back in December, Marianas Trench announced plans to embark on a United States-centric tour in support of the new record’s release. Named after a lyric from “Only the Lonely Survive,” the Suspending Gravity tour will find the band performing at venues across the country throughout the months of May and June.
The Suspending Gravity tour begins on May 1 at the Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia and concludes a little over a month later on June 5 at the House of Blues in Anaheim.
