The 1975 unveil ‘I Like America & America Likes Me’ lyric video, additional tour dates

Unanimously, the 1975’s recently released record was one of the best albums of 2018, but it doesn’t look like the group is going to leave the new set of tunes in the past. On Friday (Jan. 18), the United Kingdom-founded band unleashed the lyric video for their latest single, “I Like America & America Likes Me.”

Watch the video for the three-and-a-half-minute-long song above.

“I Like America & America Likes Me” is featured on the 1975’s recently released record, A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships. To date, the band has released music videos for several tracks including “Give Yourself a Try,” “TooTimeTooTimeTooTime,” “Love If We Made It,” “Sincerity is Scary,” and “It’s Not Living if It’s Not With You.”

A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships is the band’s much-anticipated follow-up to 2016’s smash album, I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It. The record, the band’s third studio album, peaked at the number four spot on the Billboard 200 chart late last year.

In addition to the lyric video for the new single, the four-piece also announced the addition of several new tour stops for their upcoming North American excursion. The upcoming springtime jaunt will now begin with a three-night engagement at Vive Latino in Mexico City, Mexico. The new dates also include stops in Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Milwaukee, and Richmond.

Fellow Dirty Hits label mates Pale Waves and No Rome will join the 1975 on the newly added dates. Pale Waves released their debut album My Mind Makes Noises back in September while No Rome released his RIP Indo Hisashi EP in August.

As if the lyric video and new tour dates weren’t enough, the quartet revealed they were added to the list of performers for this year’s the BRIT Awards. The guys join Little Mix, George Ezra, and Jorja Smith as performers at this year’s festivities.

The group is nominated for several awards this year including “Best British Group” and “Mastercard Best British Album” for A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships. The award show will take place on Feb. 20 at the iconic O2 Arena in London.
