‘Pet Sematary’ remake gets chilling first trailer

“Sometimes…dead is better.”

That is a sentiment a lot of people with a fear of dead things and/or zombies may be thinking to themselves after watching the first trailer for Stephen King’s Pet Sematary remake. On Wednesday (Oct. 10), the first trailer for the updated version of the 1989 film debuted online. With creepy background music, suspenseful scenes, kids in animal masks, an ominous warning from a neighbor, a dark forest with a sign proclaiming the area as “Pet Sematary,” and a disheveled cat that may or may not be dead, the two-minute clip’s goal is to send a massive chill down your spine and it does just that.

Watch the trailer for the forthcoming movie above.

The remake “follows Dr. Louis Creed (Jason Clarke), who, after relocating with his wife Rachel (Amy Seimetz) and their two young children from Boston to rural Maine, discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near the family’s new home,” the synopsis for the upcoming film states. “When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his unusual neighbor, Jud Crandall (John Lithgow), setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unfathomable evil with horrific consequences.”

Pet Sematary will rise from the dead at a theater near you on April 5, 2019.
