Elton John has always been one to make a grand entrance, so is it at all surprising that the entertainer decided to go out with a bang before officially retiring? Months after announcing plans to hit the touring circuit for his final “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour, John has now added even more tour stops to the already lengthy excursion. On Wednesday (Sept. 26), the entertainer added 25 new stops to his upcoming schedule. The newly announced dates will find the iconic performer returning to North America during the final months of 2019.
The newly added dates include several stops in Canada at venues in Vancouver, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, and Toronto. In addition to the Canadian stops, the new run will also feature stops in Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Boston, and Memphis.
Tickets for the newly unveiled dates will go on sale beginning next Friday, Oct. 5.
Just this past week, John kicked off the first leg of his multi-year tour. The first leg of the tour will find him the musician on the road through February of 2019. After a short break, the singer will head across the pond for the first of many European legs of the tour.
John previously revealed he had plans to take the “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour to Asia in November of 2019, Australia in December of 2019, and South America in March of 2020.
After performing in Asia, Australia, and South America, John will reportedly head back to Europe in late 2020 before concluding the lengthy tour in North American some time in 2021.
Earlier this year, in conjunction with John’s retirement announcement, the musician released a huge 26-track double disc featuring covers of some of his most iconic tunes. The double album featured revamped versions of his songs by Lady Gaga, Florence and the Machine, The Killers, Little Big Town, Dolly Parton, Miley Cyrus, and more.
