Listen: Lana Del Rey returns with ‘Mariners Apartment Complex’

Now that summer 2018 has come to a close, it might be the perfect time to remove “Summertime Sadness” from your playlist and replace it with a brand new Lana Del Rey tune. On Wednesday (Sept. 12), the New York-born songstress released her first new single in over a year. Titled “Mariners Apartment Complex,” the new tune is one of two new songs Del Rey plans on releasing within the next couple of weeks.

According to a press release, the second single “Venice Bitch” will make its debut next Tuesday, Sept. 18. In the same press statement, it was confirmed that both tracks will serve as precursors to her new album due out sometime in 2019.

Both “Mariners Apartment Complex” and “Venice Bitch” were produced by Bleachers frontman / super producer Jack Antonoff. The four-minute, black-and-white music video features shots of ocean waves, Del Rey gazing at butterflies that have landed on her hand, and the singer walking along a chain-link fence. Watch the video, which was Del Rey’s sister Chuck Grant, above.

Del Rey’s untitled 2019 release will be the follow-up to 2017’s Lust for Life.

The new songs announcement comes weeks after Del Rey postponed a previously scheduled concert in Tel Aviv, Israel following much protest and backlash from fans.

In late August, the singer released a statement via Twitter in which she said: “I’m postponing my appearance at the Meteor Festival until a time when I can schedule visits for both my Israeli and Palestinian fans, as well as hopefully other countries in the region.”
