Twenty One Pilots have returned with another new song. On Monday (Aug. 27), the Ohio-founded duo unleashed a fourth single from their upcoming new studio album. Titled “My Blood,” the tune is unlike the previous three as it’s a little more funky and upbeat with a killer bassline. But since it is a Twenty One Pilots song, you know that the upbeat, funkiness is just a facade for more serious lyrics.
The almost-four-minute tune is accompanied by a video which shows frontman Tyler Joseph seated in a dark studio, playing his bass and nodding his head to the new song. Listen to “My Blood” above.
The new song’s debut does not come as much of a surprise for some fans who watch the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this month. During one of the many breaks, a commercial for Twenty One Pilots‘ new album played. At first, the commercial features a snippet of “Nico and the Niners,” but it quickly changes to a new songs fans had never heard before (now we know it’s “My Blood”).
“My Blood” will join previously released songs “Levitate,” “Nico and the Niners,” and lead single “Jumpsuit” on Twenty One Pilots’ highly anticipated fifth studio album Trench. Trench is due out Oct. 5 through Fueled By Ramen. Pre-orders for the new album are currently available here.
Trench is the follow-up to the group’s Grammy-winning record, 2015’s Blurryface.
In support of the new album’s fall time release, Twenty One Pilots previously announced plans to hit the road during the final months of 2018 and early months of 2019. The Bandito world tour will begin on Oct. 16 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville and conclude five months later on March 17, 2019 at the Altice Arena in Lisbon, Portugal.
