Thrice announced their return in a big way last month when they revealed that not only had they left their home of Vagrant Records for Epitaph Records, but that they had some new music on the horizon. On Tuesday (July 10), the California-founded band made the new music news official when they confirmed the title and release date for their tenth studio album. Titled Palms, the new record is due out Sept. 14 through Epitaph Records. According to a press release, the new record was co-produced by Thrice and Eric Palmquist who also worked on the band’s last studio album, To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere.
In addition to confirming the title and date for the record’s release, the band also unveiled the music video for the album’s lead single, “The Grey.” The music video, which was directed by Daniel Carberry, comes a couple of weeks after the band uploaded a post on social asking fans to join them for the music video’s shoot.
“TALENT NEEDED FOR NEW MUSIC VIDEO. We are looking for 18 to 60-year-old people for new music video shooting in LA,” the band posted at the end of June.
The five-minute, black-and-white music video —which takes place in what appears to be a mental hospital— can be seen above.
“The Grey” is the lead single off Palms. Palms is the follow-up to 2016’s To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere.
In support of the new set of tunes, Thrice previously announced plans to hit the United States touring circuit for a massive tour. The trek will find the group touring around the country during the months of September, October, and November. The tour will begin on Sept. 20 with a double-night engagement at the House of Blues in San Diego. After being on the road for almost two months, the excursion will wrap up on Nov. 18 at the Wiltern in Los Angeles. The complete list of upcoming tour dates can be seen below.
