Billie Joe Armstrong’s the Longshot release debut album

Last week, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong confirmed he had been working on a side project named the Longshot after months of cryptic posts on social media. Along with the formal announcement, the musician also released three songs from the act’s soon-to-be-released debut album. While the caption on the band’s official Instagram profile made it seem like the album would not see the light of day for quite a while, the note turned out to be a distraction.

On Friday (April 20), the Longshot released their debut album, Love is for Losers. The record features a total of 11 songs including the three tracks that were previously released (“Taxi Driver,” “Chasing a Ghost,” and “Love is for Losers”). Currently, the full album is streaming on Spotify while it can be purchased on all digital service providers.

In addition to streaming the new album in full, Armstrong and company unleashed the official music video for “Love is for Losers.” The almost-three-minute clip finds the band performing the song in what looks to be a casino sign graveyard. Watch the full clip above.

The official announcements about the Longshot come several months after posts about them began to surface on Armstrong’s official social media accounts. One of the group’s first posts on Instagram was an image of white paper with black words scribbled on it. As it turns out, those words were the track listing for Love is forĀ Losers.

The Longshot join Foxboro Hot Tubs, SWMRS, Pinhead Gunpowder, and the Armstrongs on Armstrong’s long list of side projects.
