Bullet For My Valentine announce new album with new song

Bullet For My Valentine are back! Three years after releasing their highest chart-placing record, the Welsh band has unveiled plans to release the much-anticipated follow-up to the 2015 hit. On Monday (April 2), the four-piece formally announced the title and release date for their sixth studio record. The new album will be titled Gravity and is set to be released on June 29 through the band’s new home of Spinefarm Records.

In addition to announcing the release date and title for the impending album, the group also unleashed its first single; a track titled “Over It.” The new tune made its worldwide debut on BBC Radio 1, but can currently be streamed above.

The new album’s announcement may not come as a surprise to many Bullet For My Valentine fans. Two years ago, the group announced they had signed with Spinefarm Records and a few days later posted on social media that they were working on “BFMV6.” Then, in November of 2016, the group released the music video for a brand new track titled “Don’t Need You.” Since the group has yet to release the track listing for Gravity, there is no word on if “Don’t Need You” will be featured on the new album.

Back in February, frontman Matt Tuck sat down with Loudwire to discuss the new album which, at the time, was just a work in progress. During the chat, Tuck revealed in what correction the band’s sound was going in with the new album as well as how the process of these new songs differed from their previous tunes.

“It’s a step in a more contemporary direction, musically. We kind of focused on the songs as a whole, and the weight of the song, rather than the technicality and the speed,” reveals Tuck.

“I think we wanted to do something that was bringing the band more into a 2018 vibe. We didn’t want to write a normal, stock, heavy metal record. We wanted to push ourselves creatively and incorporate new sounds and instrumentation and ways of songwriting. It was very challenging but now we’ve got to the other end [of the process]. We think it’s f-ing killer.”

In support of Gravity‘s release Bullet For My Valentine have a packed touring schedule which will find them on the road from late April all the way into early August. The complete list of upcoming tour dates can be found here.
