If you thought Metallica were about to take a break once the European leg of their “WorldWired” tour wraps up, then you would be sadly mistaken. On Monday (Feb. 26), the iconic rock band announced an additional 33 stops on their current tour. Returning to North America in the fall, the newly added leg of the excursion will kick off on Sept. 2 at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wisconsin. After being on the road off and on throughout the end of 2018 and well into 2019, the trek will conclude on March 13, 2019 at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
As if additional tour dates weren’t enough, this excursion will also find the band performing at venues they have not played in over two decades.
The band will return to the Alerus Center in Grand Forks, North Dakota 30 years after their last show there. Joining Grand Fork on the list of places they haven’t played in a long time (over 25 years) are: El Paso, Texas; Birmingham, Alabama; and Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
General ticket sales for the new tour stops go on sale beginning this Friday, March 2. Members of Metallica’s fan clubs will be given the opportunity to purchase pre-sale tickets beginning this Tuesday, Feb. 27.
The newly added tour dates will be in support of Metallica’s recently released and award-nominated album, Hardwired… to Self-Destruct. The record was released in November of 2016 and debuted at the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart.
