5 Seconds of Summer drop new single, announce spring tour

Over the past week, the guys from 5 Seconds of Summer have been teasing fans with the promise of a brand new song. Keeping their word, the band released their first new song in almost two years. On Friday (Feb. 23), the Australian band released their brand new tune “Want You Back.” The new track, which clocks in at barely three minutes, introduces the band’s longtime fans to the group’s new sound. Gone are the days of their bratty, teenage, pop hooks (“She Looks So Perfect”) only to be replaced by a more mature sounding band.

“Want You Back” will be featured on the band’s upcoming new record. Though they have yet to formally announce the release date or title for the impending album, the band has been referring to the new record as 5SOS3 on social media. It’s only a matter of time before the band confirms the information that fans have been patiently waiting for.

In support of the new music, 5 Seconds of Summer have also announced a spring tour. The upcoming trek will find the four-piece traveling across the world during the months of March, April, May, and June. The upcoming excursion will kick off on March 20 at the Debaser Strand in Stockholm, Sweden and wrap up almost three months later on June 6 at the Cine Joia in Sao Paolo, Brazil. During the month of April, the guys will stop in North America for a short run beginning on April 8 in Boston and concluding on April 27 in San Francisco.

Tickets for all the shows will go on sale beginning next Friday, March 2.

5 Seconds of Summer’s last studio record was 2015’s Sounds Good Feels Good. The record went on to debut at the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart. In 2016, the band provided an original song titled “Girls Talk Boys” for the Ghostbusters soundtrack.
